Lời nói đầu
Mình soạn bộ tài liệu được soạn ĐỘC QUYỀN này với cả tâm huyết mong bạn
cảm thấy tiếng anh – mơn nói là điều gì đó vơ cùng đơn giản, dễ dàng. Trong lúc
mình soạn tài liệu, và tại vì phong cách “nhí nhố” nên đơi khi lời giảng của mình
nó khơng mang tính “truyền thống” “mẫu mực kính ngữ”, hi vọng các bạn khó
tính có thể thơng cảm, vì mình quan niệm sự vui vẻ và hài hước ở bài giảng sẽ
giúp chúng ta nhớ bài tốt hơn, thú vị hơn.
Với tất cả khả năng ngơn ngữ của mình, 8.0+ cho tất cả các kỹ năng, mình hi vọng,
“một đứa con gái nhà quê” học tiếng anh thành công như mình sẽ giúp bạn có
cách tiếp cận đơn giản, thoải mái, chân thực nhất. Một bộ tài liệu nơi mà bạn cảm
thấy đủ để luyện thi không cần tham khảo thêm quyển nào khác.

Thu âm ba câu hỏi Part 1 này nhé bạn. Mình sẽ chấm kỹ phát âm/ nhấn âm/ sửa đổi từ vựng
nâng band nếu bạn đã vững vàng với môn Speaking.

PART 1

Question 1. Where were you born?
I was born and raised in….. city/ province which is located in……….. It takes me around 2
hours to fly to Hanoi capital from my hometown.
Question 2. How often do you come back your hometown?
Not very often. Now I am living in Ho Chi Minh, and I get bogged down in/with work/study = I
am up to the ears in work/ study. I would say that I just pay a visit to hometown once/twice a
year.

Question 3. Do you prefer living in big cities or in countryside?
If I were to choose one of them, I would go with living in a metropolis like Ho Chi Minh city

because it offers me many job/study opportunities and top-notch facilities such as transport or
entertainment. But when I get old, I will think about living in somewhere off the beaten track
for tranquility.

PART 2 - A QUIET PLACE .

What:

A quiet place is always a place where I can find my inner peace. So today I am gonna
tell you a tranquil place that I often go to and it is my grandparents’ hometown.
Where: My grandparents’ hometown is a countryside in …………province, located in the North
of Vietnam.
When: Whenever I have free time, I usually go back to pay a visit my grandparents and
connect the nature, you know I am living in a metropolis – a hectic city – Ho Chi Minh.
How:
In this place, there are no cars horns, no companies or crowded people, you name it.
But you can find breathtaking views of mountains or poetic rivers where you can get a
sense of tranquility.
Why:
I suppose if I had to answer why I am really into this place, I would say that just
because it is my hometown and you know home sweet home. Another reason is that I
consider myself as an introverted person and a nature geek as well. So, whenever I am
in nerve-racking time for study, I often go somewhere off the beaten track like my

hometown to let my hair down as well as recharge my battery.

Question 1. Why do many people rush into urban areas?
Sau một thoáng suy nghĩ, tơi nghĩ rằng có một vài lý do cơ bản tại sao người ta lại tràn vào
thành phố mỗi ngày một nhiều, chứ không phải là các khu vực nông thơn. Một là, bởi vì thành
phố ln dồi dào các cơ hội việc làm và giáo dục, nhiều người muốn tìm được cơng việc tốt hoặc
tham gia các trường đại học uy tín ở những nơi này, từ đó, họ sẽ có một tương lai tươi sáng
hơn. Thứ hai là, các khu vực thành thị sẽ cung cấp các dịch vụ tốt về y tế, hoặc giải trí như là rạp
chiếu phim hoặc các khu mua sắm, vì vậy mọi người, đặc biệt là người trẻ sẽ thấy điều này rất
tiện lợi khi sinh sống ở đây.

• After a bit of thought, I can come up with some reasons why people flock into the
cities rather than the rural areas. The most apparent reason would be that the
cities offer more employment opportunities as well as better education, many
hope to find decent jobs or enroll in prestigious/top-ranked colleges, which will
ensure them a brighter future. In addition, urban areas tend to provide top-notch
facilites and services such as health care, cinemas or shopping malls, which make
cities ideal to the young.

Question 2. Should we encourage to move businesses out of big cities?

Sau một thoáng suy nghĩ, tôi cho rằng doanh nghiệp nên di dời ra các vùng lân cận như ngoại ô,
hoặc chuyển đến các vùng nông thôn. Một là, số lượng nhà máy và cơng ty trong thành phố q
nhiều sẽ khiến khơng khí bị ô nhiễm trầm trọng do lượng carbon được thải ra trong khơng khí
q mức, điều này sẽ khiến cho sức khoẻ người dân bị ảnh hưởng. Hai là, phải phân bổ nhà máy
và doanh nghiệp ở các vùng lân cận để mang lại cơ hội việc làm cho người dân ở đó, điều này
cũng giúp tránh tình trạng q tải dân số trong một số thành phố lớn hiện nay.

• After a bit of thought , I think that businesses should be moved/resided to
surrounding areas such as suburbs, or rural areas. First, too many factories and
companies in the city will seriously pollute the air due to the amount of carbon
released into the air, which will affect people's health. Second, it is necessary to
allocate factories and businesses in the vicinity to provide employment
opportunities for the people there, which also helps to avoid overcrowding in some
large cities today.

Câu 1. How about the cost of living in your hometown?
Vì q tơi khá nghèo và nhỏ, nên chi phí sống nơi đây vô cùng rẻ cho tất cả các sản phẩm từ
thức ăn cho đến rau củ quả. Vì đồng lương của người dân cũng khá thấp, nên vì vậy, tiền trả

cho sinh hoạt hằng ngày cũng thấp theo.

• Because my home is quite/relatively poor and small = underdeveloped, so, the
cost of living here is extremely cheap as chips for all products from food, fruits to
vegetables. However, the salary of the locals are very low as well since we do not
have much investments from the government.

Nơi tôi sống là một khu đô thị/thành phố lớn, nên chi phí
sống vơ cùng đắt đỏ. Một phần vì dân cư đơng đúc, nên từ
tiền th nhà cho đến thực phẩm cũng đắt theo. Bạn sẽ
phải trả chi phí cao từ tiền nhà đến tiền đồ ăn. Và mọi thứ
rất đắt đỏ ở các con phố đơng đúc.

• Where I live is a large city / a metropolis , so the
cost of living is extremely high. One reason,
maybe, because of the crowded population, you
have to pay high expenses from the rent to
money for food. Other than that, it costs an arm
and a leg for everything when you living on
some bustling streets.
• I am living in a medium-sized city, so, I would say
that the cost of living is reasonaby priced/
average/reasonable. You can live comfortably
here with an average salary, For example, the
rent costs you roughly 100$ to 200$ for a room
per month.

Câu 2. How about the pace of life in your hometown?
Như tôi đã nói với bạn, nó là một làng quê nhỏ, nên nhịp
sống ở đây rất chậm, yên bình và dịu dàng. Bạn sẽ khơng
bao giờ thấy những dịng xe tấp nập như ở thành phố, bạn,
thậm chí, sẽ nghe rất nhiều tiếng chim hót vào buổi sáng.

• As I told you, it is a small village, so the pace of
life here is very slow, and the atmosphere is
peaceful/tranquil and gentle. You will never see
the busiest cars/the crowded line of cars like in

the city, you, even, will hear to birds singing in
the morning.

• As I told you, this place is a modern urban area so the pace of life is very fast, hustle
and bustle/ hectic. Sometimes, it drives you crazy because of being sandwiched
by traffic jams.
Câu 3. What is your hometown famous for?
Tơi có thể tự tin nói rằng, q tơi rất đẹp. Nó nổi tiếng là một điểm đến của du lịch. Nơi đây là
bờ biển dài, xanh và rực rỡ. Ngoài ra, hải sản cũng là một điểm nhấn cho q hương tơi.

• I can confidently tell you that, my hometown is beautiful. It is famous as = has
gained a reputation for a tourist destination. This is a long, blue and stunning
coast. In addition, seafood is also a highlight for my hometown.
Thật đáng tiếc. Quê tôi không nổi tiếng cho bất kỳ đặc điểm nào. Vì nơi đây khá nghèo và chúng
tơi chỉ làm nơng nghiệp để sinh sống. Chúng tơi khơng có cảnh đẹp thiên nhiên hay di tích lịch
sử.

• I am sorry to say that my hometown is not famous for any particular traits/special
features . Because it is quite poor/ less developed and we only work in
agriculture/do farming to earn a living . We even do not have natural beauty or

historical relics.

Câu 4. Do you prefer moving to another place?
Thành thực mà nói, tơi đã rời quê hương vào thành phố khác khi tôi 18 tuổi – đi vào đại học.
Nhưng tơi vẫn thích sống nơi mình sinh ra. Rất tuyệt vời khi chúng ta sống gần gia đình.

• Honestly/ To be honest, I left my hometown to go to another city when I was 18
years old - going to college. But I still prefer to live where I was born. It is great
when we live close to home./our family.

Ồ, tôi vẫn sống ở đây được hơn 20 năm rồi. Tơi khơng có ý định nào di dời chỗ ở. Với tôi, nơi
đây là quá tuyệt vời rồi khi tơi sống bên cạnh gia đình và nó đã trở thành một nơi thân thuộc.

• Oh, I have been living here for over 20 years. I have no intention of relocating. For
me, this place is so great when I live close to my family and, of course, it has
become my home sweet home/ the place where my heart is.

Câu 5. What jobs do local people do in your hometown?

Cơng việc chính mà người dân địa phương làm đó là làm nơng, Chúng tơi trồng cây lúa, sau đó
thu hoạch theo mùa vụ để kiếm sống. Ngồi ra, vì q tơi cũng có biển nên cũng có rất nhiều
người là thợ đánh cá. Tất cả các công việc này đều phụ
thuộc nhiều và thời tiết.

• The main job that local people do is farming.
We grow rice, then harvest it in season to make
a living. Also, because my hometown is a
coastal area, there are also many fishermen. All
these jobs depend on weather.

Tôi sống ở thành phố nên công việc rất đa dạng như là
cơng việc văn phịng, nhà máy, cơng ty, trường học, du
lịch vân vân. Thậm chí, chúng tơi có nhiều cơng ty nước
ngồi đến và đâu tư nên mạng lưới lao động rất rộng.

What:

Today I am going to tell you about a business that I would like to run in coming time –
it is a coffee shop.
When: To be honest, I am saving up money now, and I am planning to open it 2 years later.
Where: The coffee shop will be located near the complex/bustling areas (like schools, hospitals,
companies) simply because I want to have target customers like (workers, students,
white-and blue collars, or foreigners, you name it)
How:
When it comes to staff, I reckon that I need some waiters who can give me a hand in
taking orders, cleaning or serving, some baristas to make the best drinks for
customers.
Speaking of the decoration: it will be nice in modern but comfy and cozy atmosphere.
It will be more perfect to have a small garden, you see, my customers will have fresh
air and easily connect to nature, yup, forget the hectic life for a while).
Why:
Taking about the reasons why I want to make this dream come true.
First, I consider myself as a coffee lover, so I hope to bring the best and tasty coffee to
everyone, especially traditional coffee in Vietnam.
The second thing is that this industry is lucrative, I mean it requires low investment
and fast recovery. Believe it or not, If I run it will, I can make a killing from my own

business.

Question 1. What are the most valuable jobs in your country?
Sau một thống suy nghĩ, tơi cho rằng bác sĩ và giáo viên là hai công việc danh giá nhất trong xã
hội Việt Nam. Rõ ràng, bác sĩ có thể cứu người và giáo viên có thể giáo dục con người, vì vậy họ
nhận dược rất nhiều sự tôn trọng từ người khác. Đi sâu vào chi tiết một chút cho nghề nhà giáo,
đây là công việc sẽ đóng góp trực tiếp cho sự phát triển của một quốc gia. Một nền giáo dục tốt
sẽ mang đến lực lượng lao động tốt để phát triển kinh tế, hoặc sẽ giảm tỉ lệ tội phạm trong xã
hội. Tuy nhiên, tôi cũng thấy rằng. mọi nghề nghiệp đều quan trọng và nên được đánh giá cao
trong xã hội.

• After a bit of thought, I suppose doctor and teacher are the two most noble jobs
in Vietnamese society. It is obvious that doctors can save people lives while
teachers can educate people, so they command a lot of respect from others. As an
in-depth view into the job of teaching, this is a profession directly contributing to
the improvement of a nation. A decent educational system will create a strong
workforce that drives the economy as well as decrease crime rates. Nevertheless,
I also believe that all professions are equally important and should be appreciated
regardless.

Question 2. Why do many people often change their jobs?
Từ quan sát của tôi, tôi cho rằng job-hopping (nhảy việc) rất phổ biến trong những năm gần

đây. Có 2 lý do chính cho điều này. Một là, nhiều người cảm thấy chán với cơng việc hiện tại. Họ
khơng hài lịng về cơng việc, về lương, hoặc về mơi trường làm việc, vì vậy, họ muốn thay đổi
việc để tìm kiếm những đột phá mới. Hai là, sự phát triển của công nghệ thông tin hiện đại dễ
làm cho các kỹ năng công việc trở nên lỗi thời, nên nhiều người phải thay đổi việc liên tục vì họ

• From my observation, I suppose that job-hopping has been gaining popularity in
recent years. There are two notable reasons for this. First, some are just bored to

What: I taught swimming skills for my little sister.
When + When: 3 years ago, my family took a trip to Nha Trang to let off some steam after the
nerve-racking time of work. You see, Nha Trang has gained a reputation for a
pristine beach in Vietnam. At first, we took part in many water sports and
enjoyed the activities on the beach. Then we went swimming. To tell you the
truth, my little sister (at the time, 10 years old) was sad and was sitting on
the sand with a blue face (gương mặt buồn bã) because she couldn’t swim.
She had a fear of water. I decided to teach her this skill.
How: I taught her how to warm up before going swimming, how to breathe in the
right way, how to keep calm, take a deep breath before jumping into water.
At first, she screamed and cried but finally, with my patience and
encouragement, she overcame the fear and started swimming. You see, I
then taught her some basic swimming strokes (butterfly stroke, backstroke).
When she learnt the ropes (học được điều cơ bản), she became keen on this
kind of sport. I am very proud of her for that.
Kết thúc: You know, swimming is a survival skill, so it is very important to master.
Besides, going swimming is a way to help to get lean (giữ dáng), reduce the
wear and tear (giảm độ hao mòn) of your body and build tenacity (xây dựng
lòng kiên trì). More importantly, swimming does wonders for your health.

Vâng, chắc chắn là có. Khuyến khích trẻ tham gia thể thao sẽ tốt cho trẻ cả về mặt tinh thần và
thể chất. Một là, về mặt thể chất, chơi thể thao sẽ giúp trẻ có thể lực tốt, đặc biệt hệ tiêu hoá sẽ
phát triển để giúp trẻ hấp thụ chất tốt hơn. Hai là, về mặt tinh thần, trẻ sẽ rất năng động và có
lối sống tích cực. Một số trẻ em ngày nay rất nghiện ti vi (couch potato) nên đã có lối sống thụ
động (sedentary lifestyle), khuyến khích trẻ chơi thể thao là cách để cải thiện điều này.

• Yes, we definitely should. Encouraging them to partake in sports will do wonders
for them physically as well as mentally. Physically, sport will benefit a kid’s body,
especially the digestive system which helps with their general development.
Mentally, a child who does sports will be more active and have a positive mindset.
Some kids today are couch potatoes with sedentary lifestyle, so encouraging them
to play sports is an excellent solution..
Question 2. Are skills in sports similar as much as working skills?
Tơi đốn là ở một số khía cạnh thì kỹ năng thể thao và kỹ năng công việc sẽ khá tương tự. Ví dụ,
kỹ năng làm việc nhóm, tương tác (interpersonal skills) trong khi tham gia các mơn ngồi trời
như bóng chuyền, bóng đá sẽ tương tự như kỹ năng làm việc nhóm đi tham gia lao động. Điều
chính yếu là bạn phải phối hợp tốt với người xung quanh để tạo ra kết quả tốt nhất. Tuy nhiên,
có rất nhiều kỹ năng công việc sẽ khác với kỹ năng thể thao vì mỗi cơng việc sẽ u cầu các kỹ
năng chun mơn vì cơng nghệ, hoặc về tính tốn, nên sự so sánh giữa 2 bên là khơng tương

thích (incompatible).

• Well I suppose, from certain perspectives, sports and working skills are quite
similar. For instance, team-working and interpersonal skills in outdoor sports like
volleyball, football share some resemblances with those we use in a working group.
The point is to cooperate with others to produce the best result. Nevertheless,
there are a lot of working skills that have nothing to do with sports, such as
technological or calculation expertise, so they are incompatible.

Oh, I’ve never thought about this before. To be honest, I dont have a knack for writing, even
writing a book or writing movie plots (kịch bản phim). But If I were a movie director, I would
make a movie about love – a kinda romantic film because I am a diehard fan of romance.

Question 5. Do you prefer watching movies at home or in the cinema?
I prefer watching movies in the cinema. It offers me an authentic environment, you know, and
with sound and visual effects. I also can enjoy the latest movies = latest installments there. Last
weekend, I hit to the cinema to enjoy the new movive called “….” It’s really a blast!

What:

My all-time favorite program is Who wants to be a millionaire. This is the most
respectable and interesting show in my opinion. I think you may have heard about this
show before because it is really well-known and wide-spread among many countries.
When: The show is usually on air on every Sunday night. Even I am busy as a bee with my

work, I still try to carve my time out of my schedule of watch it every weekend.
How:
Well the show is basically a question-answer type of challenge where the host of the
program throws questions at the candidate. The question’s difficulty can range from
extremely easy level such as “what letter comes after C in the alphabet?” to incredibly
difficult one such as “How many legs does an ant have?”
So, the player really really needs to be a polymath to win this game–a polymath I
mean Mr. Know-it-all or in other words, a person with extensive knowledge about
basically every aspect of life.
Why:
The reason why it’s called “who wants to be a millionaire’ is because the final prize for
the game is 1 million dollars for the winner – which is an enormous amount of money I
think. But I suppose this is a fair prize for people with extensive knowledge. It kinda
encourages people to become more and more aware of the world surrounding them.
And in the future If I possible I would definitely have a crack at taking part in the game
and try to win 1 million dollars.

Tôi không nghĩ như vậy. Chiến lược này có một số tác dụng khơng thể phủ nhận, vâng, ví dụ, nó
chắc chắn sẽ thu hút sự phổ biến/ sự chú ý ngay từ đầu, bởi vì bạn biết đấy, các diễn viên nổi
tiếng, và họ có một lương fan hâm mộ rất lớn. Nhưng nếu nội dung của bộ phim tệ thì tơi khơng
nghĩ nghĩ rằng nó có thể trở thành một thành cơng mặc dù có sự tham gia những ngơi sao nổi

tiếng trong đó. Đã có rất nhiều ví dụ về những bộ phim có các diễn viên có giải thưởng oscar
nhưng vẫn thất bại khủng khiếp do cách kể chuyện tồi tệ/ thảm hại.

• I wouldn’t think so. The strategy has some undeniable effects yes, for example it
can definitely gain popularity at the beginning, because you know, the actors are
well-known who have a huge number of loyal fan. But if the content of the movie
is bad then, I wouldn’t think it could become a success even though it has famous
stars in it. There have been so many examples of movies that have actors with
Oscar awards but still fail terribly due to bad storytelling.

Question 2. Do people with different ages like different kinds of movies?
Nó cịn tuỳ vào sở thích cá nhân mỗi người. Bố tơi thích xem những phim cũ nhưng mà ơng tơi
thì lại thích phim hành động kiểu mới, hihi. Tuy nhiên, từ những gì tơi thấy thì phần lớn mọi
người sẽ muốn xem cái gì đó mà tương tự/ giống họ, ở một vài góc độ nào đó thì là như vậy.
Điều này sẽ đúng với người lớn tuổi bởi vì họ ghét những thứ mới. Đồng ý khơng? ^^

• It is all down to everyone’s personal preference really. My father loves watching
old movies but my grandfather loves modern action movies instead. But from what
I can see, the vast majority of people would want something that are similar to
them to some degree. This is especially true with older people since they tend to
hate new things.

• Sentimental gifts can be kept in a long time. They remind us about givers/senders
• Monetary gifts can be used immediately. They are practical = they are a life-saver (a lifesaver; từ này thì hay bá đạo, nghĩa là rất hữu ích)
Bạn sẽ có 02 cách trả lời hồn chỉnh như sau

Cách 1: I prefer receiving monetary gifts, such as phone or clothes. You see, monetary
gifts can be used immediately. This is especially true because they are practical.
Especially, I seldom go shopping for daily stuff, so monetary gifts are a life-saver to me
coz I can use them daily.

Cách 2: I consider myself as an introverted person (người nội tâm). I would say that I
prefer receiving sentimental gifts from other people simply because I can feel their care,
thoughts and affection (sự yêu thương). More importantly, sentimental gifts can be kept
in a long time. They remind us about givers/senders. You see, money doesnt matter but
it is thought that counts

Question 2. Did you ever receive a gift that you didnt like? What did you do after that?

What: Receiving money as a gift is not a custom in my country but wedding

When + Where: On my last birthday I received a big amount of money from my uncle,
Thanh. On that day, I threw a small party at home and invited some
friends and relatives to come. We had a good time there. It is really a
blast!
How: People brought with them sentimental values such as flowers, cards

or wine rather than monetary values. But only my uncle gave me an
envelope with money inside. I was too shy to get that money but my
uncle understood that I was broke and that time I had to tighten my
