I. Cấu trúc Would you mind & Cấu trúc Do you mind
Cấu trúc would you mind / Do you mind trong tiếng Anh được dùng để u cầu ai làm việc
gì đó hoặc hỏi xin phép làm điều gì đó một cách trang trọng.
- Cấu trúc:
Would you mind + verb-ing...?
Do you mind + verb-ing...?
Eg:
Would you mind / Do you mind carrying me this box?
(Bạn có phiền giúp tơi mang cái hộp này được không?)
Would you mind / Do you mind not talking? (= Please don't talk.)
(Xin đừng nói gì.)
Would you mind / Do you mind closing the window? (= Please close the window.)
(Phiền bạn đóng cửa sổ giùm. / Vui lịng đóng giùm cửa sổ.)
II. Cấu trúc Would you mind if & Cấu trúc Do you mind if
Trong tiếng Anh, dùng Would you mind if/ Do you mind if khi muốn mang tính chất lịch sự
khi bạn đưa ra yêu cầu hoặc hỏi ý kiến của người nghe.
Công thức:
Do you mind + if + S + V-present
Would you mind + if + S + V-ed
Ví dụ:


Do you mind if we go home late? – Bạn có phiền khơng nếu chúng ta về nhà muộn?
Would you mind if I changed the channel? – Bạn có phiền không nếu tôi chuyển kênh khác?
III. Cách trả lời câu Would you mind trong tiếng Anh
- Khi muốn đồng ý với người hỏi:
Please do (Bạn cứ làm đi).
Please go ahead (Bạn cứ tự nhiên).
Not at all (Không hề).

No, I don’t mind (Không, tôi không phiền đâu)
No. I’d be glad to (Không, tôi rất vinh hạnh)
No, of course not (Không, tất nhiên là không phiền rồi).
- Khi muốn từ chối người hỏi:
I’m sorry, I can’t (Xin lỗi, tôi không thể).
I’m sorry. That’s not possible (Xin lỗi, điều đó khơng khả thi).
I’d rather not do that (Tơi thích khơng làm như vậy hơn).
I wish I could do that but I am busy right now (Tôi rất muốn giúp nhưng tôi đang bận rồi).
