Connected speech 2
Linking
In connected speech, words are usually linked together smoothly without a break
between them. This unit provides 2 types of linking words: consonant - vowel and
consonant - consonant
1. Consonant - vowel
Normally, a consonant sound at the end of a word is linked to a vowel sound at the
begining of the next word

2. Consonant - consonant
Remember to pronounce all the consonant sounds in words, especially the ending
ones. The ending consonants of the former word together with the first ones of the
latter word make a group of consonants linked smoothly and try not to drop any
sounds within that consonant group
