Opening Remarks

Good afternoon, everyone, welcome to the conference,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to participants from abroad as well as from
other universities in Korea. Thank you so much for coming all the way to Daejeon.
It is my great honor and pleasure to declare the opening of the 2016 International
Conference under the theme of “Toward One Asia in Management and Economics”.
Because of rapid globalization since 1980s, the economic border has been disappearing

and a world economy and especially Asian countries have been integrated as a closer
market. This has brought rapid economic growth for Asian countries. But recent
atmosphere of counter-globalization threatens the basis of Asian countries’ prosperity.
Hopefully, participants taking part in this conference come up with a better way to cope
with this new obstacle for brighter economic future of Asian countries.

I would like to thank to Professor Yoon Pyung Sig, Dean of College of Economics and
Management at CNU, Keynote speaker, Mr. Sourioudong Sundara, a Vice Minister from
Laos, delegates of our sister universities and all sponsoring organizations who have made
a major contribution to the success of this conference. My special thanks should be sent
also to all the presenters and discussants for their invaluable time and efforts for this
conference. I think that you all work with us to make this conference a successful one.
As the director of a hosting institute, I will do my best to ensure a rewarding and
memorable conference. Please enjoy this conference, our hospitality, and your time in
Daejeon. Thank you.

Dr. Park, Kyung-HYE

Director, Management and Economics Research Institute (MERI), CNU

Welcome Messages

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
It is my great honor to deliver welcome messages to all the conference participants and
honored guests. Especially, I'd like to thank the distinguished keynote speaker Mr.
Sourioudong Sundara, Vice Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology in Lao PDR, Dr.
Hoang Long Nguyen, Vice President of Thuongmai University, other honored guests for

having valuable time with us. I also like to thank Dr. Kyunghye Park, director of
Management and Economics Research Institute of Chungnam National University for her
efforts and commitment and staffs for having taken time out of their busy schedules to
help organize this conference.
On behalf of all the faculty members and students, I'd like to welcome you all to the 5th
International Technology Diffusion Conference and the 2nd Eurasia Research Forum under
the theme of "Toward One Asia in Management and Economcs: Current Issues in K-tech
Diffusion and Industry 4.0" being held at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, Korea.
Taking this opportunity, I like to introduce the survey results conducted in 2013. The
foreign ministry-commissioned survey was conducted on about 6,000 adults in 17 foreign
countries. They were asked what word first pops up in their mind when thinking of South
Korea. Surprisingly, the respondents most frequently come up with technology, followed
by Samsung, war, Korean pop. The technology is not only the symbolic image of Korea in
the past but also the driving force of future growth. The Daedeok Innopolis, where
Chungnam National University is located, is the birthplace of Korean science and
technology. Social Science Korea (SSK) research group has been transferring Korean R&D
development experiences to the developing countries.
I hope that this conference will give participants a platform to exchange ideas, acquaint
with colleagues, meet new friends, and broaden their knowledge and that all of you enjoy
your time and Korean hospitality here in Daejeon. Thank you.

Dr. Pyung Sig Yoon
Dean of College of Economics and Management
Dean of Graduate School of Business, CNU

Congratulatory Address

It is my great honor to deliver this congratulatory address to all the
participants and honored guests for the 5th International Technology Diffusion

Conference and the 2nd Eurasia Research Forum. I would like to express my
sincere gratitude for the efforts of the organizing and hosting institutions who
have made this conference possible as well as many outstanding scholars from
various countries including Laos, China, Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam and
Korea.
In the aftermath of 2008 global economic crisis, the world economy still has
yet to find the way out of the crisis. More regrettably, stagnating economic
conditions have led to the growing threat of isolationism, especially in the
advanced countries. Although the policy makers have to modify their growth
strategies in order to mitigate the negative aspect of neo‐liberal globalization,
the crisis should not result in the conflict for pursuit of interests of respective
countries.
I strongly believe that academics and practitioners taking part in this
conference will share ideas, insights, and experiences under the theme of the
conference “Toward One Asia in Management and Economics‐Current Issues: K‐
Tech Diffusion and Industry 4.0” in order to find better ways to cope with
challenges and to promote mutual understanding and friendship. I hope that
