ABSTRACT
Dragon fruit is dominant and brings the highest economic benefits among fruit
trees in Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan province. In recent years, along with the
development of fresh dragon fruit production, Bac Binh district has also developed
other products from dragon fruit in order to expand and diversify the product
consumption market, improving the value of Binh Thuan dragon fruit products.
However, these processes cause some environmental problems such as branches and
buds disposal without collecting and treating, no saving-energy solution, excessive
use of plant protection products and inorganic fertilizers, no bottles of plant
protection products collection. These activities degrade the quality of the
environment. In addition, fragmented and small production causes the output of
dragon fruit in Bac Binh district to be narrowed, affecting people's income.
Research and propose a circular economic production model according to the
production and processing chain of dragon fruit in Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan
province in order to improve the economic efficiency and minimize environmental
pollution. The economic benefits that the model brings include: (i) using LED bulbs
that save more electricity but still have the effect of stimulating off-season
flowering like Compact bulbs; (ii) using solar panels to generate own electricity,
both saving energy cost and generating additional income by selling excess
electricity to the national grid; (iii) collecting discarded buds to sell to the factory to
generate new income; (iv) reducing the cost of external fertilizer sources by organic
fertilizer composted from branches; (v) collecting and producing pigments from
waste dragon fruit skins in order to provide new products.
In order for the model to be highly effective and to be replicated in practice,
local functional units need to implement solutions to promote propaganda so that
people can clearly understand economic - social - environment benefits brought
about by the model, encouraging people to apply the model in production and
processing activities; regularly organize agricultural extension training courses,

seminars on production experience. In addition, it is necessary to pay more attention
to output markets for products to help people feel more secure in production and
business.
