thích ..... hơn

S + would rather + S + V2/ed
: thích ai đó làm (ko) làm gì hơn
( present time ; thời gian hiện tại)

S + would rather + S + HAD + V3/ED ( PAST
TIME : thời gian quá khứ)
Ex1: She would rather (stay) .......stay .........at home than (go) ....go ........out with him.
Ex2: I would rather you (come) ...........came.......here at 7 o’clock.
Ex3: I would rather you (not smoke) .......didn’t smoke..................here.

EX4: She would rather you ( buy ) …………had
bought………….some books last month

It is ( about / high ) time + S + V2/ed :.

Đã đến lúc….

Ex5: It’s about time for you (go).......TO GO .......school. ( You should go to school)

B. CÁCH PHÁT ÂM ĐUÔI -ED VÀ –S/-ES
I. Cách phát âm đuôi –ed: Động từ có quy tắc thêm –ed được phát âm như sau:
- /ɪd/ khi -ed sau 2 âm: / t, d / ( ta , đi)
Ex: wanted, permitted, needed, hated, succeeded,...
- /t/ khi -ed sau các âm: / s , k , p , f , tʃ, ʃ, θ / (chó sủa xơn shao khắp phố phường)
Ex: cooked, laughed, reached, washed, finished, hoped, missed, practiced, fixed,…
- /d/ khi -ed sau các âm còn lại: / ð, b, v, z, ʒ, dʒ, g, m, n, ŋ, l, w /
Ex: rained, arrived, bored, allowed, accused, changed, failed, robbed, agreed, tried, played…
*Ngoại lệ: Một số từ kết thúc bằng –ed dùng làm tính từ được phát âm là /ɪd/ :
aged /eɪdʒɪd/

II. Cách phát âm đuôi -s/-es : Động từ hoặc danh từ thêm -s hoặc -es được phát âm như sau:
- /ɪz/ sau từ tận cùng bằng các âm: / s , z , ʃ , tʃ , ʒ , dʒ / ( chiếu sáng ))
Ex: roses, raises, chances, wishes, matches, oranges, damages…
- /s/ sau động từ hoặc danh từ tận cùng bằng những âm: / p , k , f , t / (phải kêu fở tái)

Ex: maps, desks, roofs, laughs, hats, cloths…
- /z/ sau động từ hoặc danh từ tận cùng bằng các âm còn lại.
Ex: bags, kids, rooms, apples, boys, schools, potatoes, countries, hobbies…
