1. Who is your favorite celebrity in your country?
Honestly, I have actually never cared about the Vietnam's showbiz. But there is one 
particular guy that I'm quite fond of, who is JVevermind, a very well­known vlogger in my
country. His videos are extremely funny and inspiring, and last year he made it to the 
top 30 of Young Asian Entrepreneurs by Forbes.
2. Do you like any foreign celebrities?
Of course. I would say most of my idols are from other countries, as I have no interest in
Vietnam's showbiz. My favorite foreign celebrity is Taylor Swift, a global superstar, who 
is often known as "The Princess of country music".
3. Would you like to be celebrity? Why?
Probably no. Despite the fact that I can make a fortune, life of a public figure has never 
been easy. In fact, there have been a lot of famous people involved in drug abuse or 
even suicide because of the extremely stressful life.
4. Do you think we should protect famous people’s privacy?
I only agree with this to an extent. Of course the private life of celebrities should be 
protected because it is a human right. On the other hand, some misbehaviors or even 
crimes committed by celebrated individuals should be brought into light. For example, 
the case of a Hollywood director sexually abused his female co­workers, must be 
exposed.
5. How do celebrities influence their fans in your country?
I'm not quite sure about this. I suppose they can influence their fans through social 
media. By uploading personal photos and videos online, celebrities can attract millions 
of followers. Good deeds such as charity work can spread a positive message to our 
community.
6. Do you like music?

I can't think of any reason for not loving music, actually. Music is the only thing can
pump   me   up   whenever   I   feel   down   the   dumps.   It   is   also   a   vehicle   for   expressing
personal emotions to yourself.
7. What’s your favorite type of music?
I have  a soft spot for country music, you  know.  I  enjoy  the  soothing  tunes and  the
romantic lyrics of this genres. I'm also keen on EDM, which stands for Electronic Dance
Music.
8. Do you think it’s important for children to learn to play a musical instrument?
In my view, knowing how to master a musical instrument is a good way for a child to
develop comprehensively his or her intellectual ability. However, they should only be
encouraged, rather than forced to learn this.
9. What kind of TV programmes do you like to watch?
I would say the singing and dancing contests always attract my attention. I mean, the
contestants are incredibly talented and the crowds are amazing. For example, Dancing
With The Stars is all the rage in Vietnam at the moment.
10. What are the most popular TV shows in your country?
I don't really know. I guess dramas and reality shows are dominating the screen. Korean
dramas have always been popular to young girls, and reality shows such as Vietnam's
Next Top Model have very high viewership.
11. Has the internet affected your viewing habits?
Absolutely, I watch most TV shows on the internet now, rather than a normal TV. There
are so many streaming services like Netflix offering on­demand TV. I also like to binge
watch a series of TV shows, just watch  a whole  series in a day or two rather than
waiting for the next episode.

To talk about the TV show that made me laugh a lot, the one that springs to my mind is
“Friends”, which is an American television sitcom. So far, it is still considered as one of
the best series by so many people around the world. The movie is basically about the
life of six 20­something New Yorkers who hang out at a coffee house.
 “Friends” was aired for 10 years, from 1994 to 2004. The show not only cracks me up
everytime I watch, but also is very relatable, which explains why it is still so popular
today. The show never tries to gloss over the harsh reality of life.
The topics addressed apply to all kinds of people, and we can see bits of ourselves in
the six friends as they try to make their way in the world – which isn’t so different to ours
now.
At times the characters lost their jobs, struggled on low income and got stuck in the
careers   they   hated.   These   are   all   situations   that   us   today   can   identify   with   as   we
struggle to make a living.
Besides, the show starred many talented actors and actresses.
I   was   most   impressed   by   the   performance   of   Matthew   Perry,   who   portrayed   the
character Chandler – a very witty man with his constant joke­making.
I can’t remember how many times I have watched the show and everytime I tell myself
to watch just one episode, I always end up watching the whole season because of its
stimulating plot. And above all, Friends is definitely a good guide through life for me.

PART 3
Is entertainment these days better than in the past because of technology?
– No, life was great back then. You didn’t need an app to meet people. You just went out and met
them. Simple.
-Yes, we have a plethora of choices today on the internet that brightens our lives. [Plethora =

What are the dangers of spending too much time on online entertainment?
– No doubt things like addiction and social withdrawal are some of the most common
dangers.
– There are no real dangers. It’s just the media beating up another story.
– The biggest danger is befriending the wrong people online.


What forms of online entertainment have become popular these days?
– Things like online shopping, online dating and gaming have become very popular.
– These days new kinds of social games have become popular like Pokémon Go.
– Most people these days spend their time on sites like Facebook and Twitter

2. SPORTs
Describe an outdoor sport you played for the first time. You should say:

I’ve played just about every sport under the sun and I can say with absolute confidence 
that the most enjoyable was Rugby, especially when playing it for the first time. Some of
the boys in the year above us played a daily lunchtime game of rugby on the main oval 
at school and one fateful day, my group of friends decided to join in.
We all loved it from the first minute. It was fast paced, it built camaraderie between it’s 
players quickly and rewarded personal attributes like bravery and commitment rather 
than physical traits. For many of us, it was our first real experience of any sort of 
physical confrontation and for a teenage boy, the confidence it inspired in you was life­
changing.
From the very first time I got knocked over and got back up I felt different. I wasn’t 
scared anymore. It was the first time that I realized how quickly fear goes away once 

you understood something on a physical level. All of us were bowled over by this new 
experience and not long after you could find us training every lunchtime and playing 
rugby outside of school on the weekends.
I personally think that every young man should give rugby a try at least once, to 
experience something truly unique and learn something profound about himself.
Describe an activity you do when you are alone in your free time. You should say:

What do I do in spare time? Well there’s lots of different things I could tell you about – 
I’m a pretty active person and I like to keep myself busy, so even when I’m not working 
I’m always doing something.
I suppose my favourite activity when I am alone in my free time is simply riding my 
bicycle. I moved to live close to a large lake in the center of Hanoi capital about a year 
now and it’s a city famous for being bike friendly – perhaps because it’s so flat. So I 
decided to buy myself a bike. At first it was just to go to work but I enjoyed it so much 
that I also started cycling for fun.
I would just ride around the city by myself – going through some of the parks and down 
by the riverside. Then I discovered that there was a really active Cycling Club. It’s really 
just a group of people who like to get out and about on the weekend, but I don’t think 
that I want to join with them because cycling alone is much interesting. I don’t tend to go
very far – normally only around 20­25 miles and don’t race. The idea is just to enjoy the 
day and I normally end up in one of the local villages and have a meal or picnic before 
heading back into the city.
I enjoy cycling alone because it’s of course good exercise and I like to keep fit. But it’s a
bit more than that. It allows me to get out of the city and see some of the countryside 
while I still have my own space.

Describe a water sports you would like to try in the future. You should say:

I have to confess that I am not a sport lover and hardly take up any sports at all. But 
recently I watched some competitions on TV in the ASIAD 2018 and was quite 
impressive with a common sport, which is swimming.
Unlike other sports, there are no rules to follow when you swim. Basically, swimming is 
just combination of your leg and arm motions and the natural floatation of the body. To 
progress as a swimmer, you need to take up exercise and practice with a personal 
trainer as well as wear some special swimming costumes such as swim cap or glasses 
to protect your hair and eyes from chemicals in swimming pool.
I came across a swimming competition when coming home from work and found my 
father stick his eyes to TV sreen. I guessed it should be something very spectacular or 
interesting and it drew my attention. I came closer to my TV and watched with him, and 
at the end I found it worth trying.
I want to play this sport because of two main reasons. It helps me get into shape and 
build endurance because it provides an all­over body workout, as nearly all of my 


muscles are used during swimming. Additionally, I also feel liberal and flexible when I’m 
deep into the water. All daily stress and hardness are set aside when I come to 
swimming pool where my whole body and brain are released. Finally, it is clear that 
swimming pool is an ideal place to help me escape from the extremely hot weather in 
the summer.
All in all, I cannot fly as a bird but water is my own sky where I feel I’m flying, so I will 
definitely learn how to swim.

Collins. She’s widely regarded as one of the most incredibly talented novel
writers in the world. The novel is set in a future dystopian North America
and revolves around the protagonist – Katniss Everdeen. A 16-year-old
from a poor, coal mining community. She along with 23 other children are
selected at random to participate in a televised death match. In that, they
are forced to brutally murder one another until only one is left standing.The
book received so much international fame that it was soon
after adapted into a popular film series. And it came as no surprise that
its film adaptation enjoyed enormous commercial success upon its
release.I really enjoyed being immersed in the science fiction world that
Collins creates. The plot is amazing, the acting skills are on-point, the sound
effects are top-notch. All in all, I believe this is probably one of the

Well, I suppose that the majority of children are fascinated with fairy tales,
which are full of miracles and imaginary creatures. You know, kids like to let
their imagination run wild and immerse themselves in the enchanting,
mysterious world when reading this kind of book. Many children also dote
on folk stories because of the meaningful messages they convey, which

Well, as far as I’m concerned, there are various ways for parents to spark
their children’s interest in books. One of the fantastic ways is to read
books to them. I think it could be a great head start for children to improve
their reading later in life. And it also helps strengthen the bond between

the kids and their parents. Another ideal way is to take them to a book
street, where a wide range of books can be found. You know, children can
just wander along the street to unwind and browse through the stores at the

2.3. Why do adults still have to read books?
I reckon that learning is a process of a lifetime and people have an

I love to visit places, but due to my busy schedule, I am unable to go out on a lot of trips
on holidays. Before the global pandemic started, I visited Sikkim with my family. I don’t 
clearly remember the exact date ,but it was in the month of May, 2019. It was summer, 
but the weather was very soothing there. Sikkim is  one of the smallest states of India 
situated in the North eastern part.
Since my childhood I was drawn towards mountains more than I was towards the sea. 

Mountains always used to be peaceful and calm and I think that is the most attractive 
part of it. We started our journey from Pelling which is a small town in the northeastern 
Indian state of Sikkim, at the foothills of Mount Khangchendzonga. The town is filled 
with monasteries and waterfalls. Pemayangtse Monastery is another equally important 
Buddhist shrine in Pelling. I visited the place the same day I visited Khecheopalri 
Lake,Rimbi fall, Kanchenjunga falls  and Singshore bridge. It is the second largest 
suspension bridge in Asia. The next day we visited Rabdentse Ruins and in the evening
we were off to Ravangla.
Unfortunately it started to rain so we were unable to visit anything but Temi tea garden 
on our way to ravangla. The next day we were off to Gangtok. We stayed there and 
went out on alternative days for sightseeing. We visited Tsomgo lake, Seven Sisters 
waterfall, Banjhakri falls, Rumtek monastery. The days we were not sightseeing, we 
used to spend quality time in the Gangtok “mail” which they used to call their shopping 
markets. We were unable to visit Nathula Pass as it started to snow heavily. We visited 
Yumthang­the valley of flowers and the flower shows of Gangtok. The beautiful snow 
capped mountains, the waterfalls, the monasteries, the lakes, the people and everything
was so serene and beautiful. Sikkim increased my love for mountains ever since. I had 
a memorable trip which I will relive forever.

I happened to have a trip to Darjeeling a few years back. I don’t exactly remember the 
perfect date, but it was soon after my class 10 board examination. It was a trip 
conducted by my school authorities which can be classified as an excursion. Darjeeling 
is one of the prettiest hill stations in India located in the northern part of West Bengal. 
It’s all about magnificent views of snow capped Kanchenjunga, streams flowing down 

the mountain slopes, lovely tea gardens, landscapes with firs, pines & ferns, and all that
combined with friendly people and modern yet colonial charm. We took a train from 
kolkata to NJP station. From there we took a bus that was pre­booked by our tour guide 
manager.
There were fifty students and 8 teachers,along with our tour guides. We were served 
our lunch packets on the bus. We visited the beautiful himalayan railways aka toy trains.
It was so beautiful to get a city ride on a toy train by the side of the mountains, stopping 
at every beautiful spot. The majestic view of the mountain on one side and the busy 
lives of people in the city was something worthy of watching. We also visited Batasia 
loop, Tiger Hill,ropeway,Himalayan Mountaineering Institute , the zoo,Rock Garden and 
several other places. We stayed there for about a week.
On the evening of the fifth day, we were given permission to buy things from the 
shopping area of Darjeeling. As it was an excursion, it’s needless to say about the 
amount of fun I had there with my friends. On the sixth day we were off to the NJP 
station recalling the very new memories and sadness of the ending of our much­awaited
trip. We bid our goodbyes to the most beautiful place of our dream, but the art of 
heaven, named as Darjeeling, will remain cherishable in our heart and brain forever.

Whenever it comes to my childhood, I always think of the good old days that I spent with
the kids in my neighborhood. Today I am going to tell you about one of my most favorite
childhood game, whose name is blind­man’s­buff and it is very popular with kids born in
1990s.
I loved the game so much that I played every afternoon after school with my next door
friends. It helped me relax after a long day studying at school.
To be more specific, the game required at least three people and we usually tried to
gather about nine or ten kids so as to have more fun. First we played scissors, paper,
rock   to   choose   one   person   who   would   be   blindfolded   and   when   that   person   was
chosen, his/her eyes would be tied up so he/she couldn’t see anything then we formed


a   large   circle   around   that   person.   The   circle   was   not   allowed   to   “break”   under   any
circumstances. Everyone should run to make the circle move and make it more difficult
for the blindfolded person to catch anyone. If the blindfolded kid could touch someone
and say his/her name, the blindfolded kid would be free and the kid who was caught
would be blindfolded this time.
I continued to play this game till I finished primary school. Though I got older, the game
was not suitable for me but it was truly one of my most favorite childhood memories.
