If we’ve lost touch with you as a customer of
NS&I, we will:
•
keep any personal information about you
safe and confidential
•
protect your money against possible fraud
by someone else
•
try to get back in touch with you
To protect your money and privacy we will only
accept a trace request from someone else if
they satisfy us that they are legally entitled to
act on your behalf, for example under a Power
of Attorney.

after your money

About our Tracing Service
This brochure outlines how we look after dormant money,
and explains how you can ask us to trace any lost or
forgotten savings and investments you may have with us.
How we look after
dormant money
Where we know we have lost contact
with a customer – for example when
correspondence is returned undelivered
– we will make sure not to send any
further correspondence to that address.
We also won’t allow any of their money
to be repaid until we can find out and
verify the customer’s current address.
We will of course check that any
instructions we receive after that are
genuinely from the customer or from
someone legally entitled to act on
their behalf.
Where we can’t find the customer’s
new address and they don’t get in
touch with us, we’ll continue to protect
their money and keep their personal
details confidential. The accounts and
investments will remain registered in
the customer’s name, so they are still
entitled to the money plus any interest
earned or prizes won.
What savings does
NS&I offer now?
We offer a range of savings and
investments to suit different
people’s needs. We’re backed by
HM Treasury so all the money you
invest with us is 100% secure. Find
out more at nsandi.com or call us
and ask for our range leaflet.

Have you won a
Premium Bonds prize?
Checking for outstanding Premium
Bonds prizes is one of the most
frequent requests we receive. If you
have any Premium Bonds, and have
changed your address but not yet told
us, you may have won a prize that you
don’t know about.
As long as you have some information
or documents – for example, your
holder’s number, NS&I number, the
Bond or the Bond record – you won’t
need to complete the tracing request
form in this brochure.
All you have to do is let us know your
current address (see page 5 for how to
do this). We’ll then update our records
and check whether you have any
unclaimed prizes. There’s no time limit
for claiming prizes.
Prizes for a deceased investor
Any Premium Bonds held by someone
who has died can remain in the prize
draws for up to 12 months after the
date of death. After that, the Bonds are
no longer eligible to win prizes.
Check your prizes online
If you know your Premium Bonds holder’s number, you can use our
website nsandi.com to check whether you have any unclaimed prizes.
You can also use our prize checker app if you have an iPhone, iPad, iPod
touch or Android smartphone or tablet.
But make sure you tell us your new address so we can send you any future
prizes. And if you register for our online and phone service you can
choose to have any future prizes paid directly into your bank account with
notification by email. Visit our website or call us to find out more.
Remember
You only need to visit
mylostaccount.org.uk or use
the tracing request form in this
brochure for Premium Bonds if you
don’t have your holder’s number,
NS&I number, the Bond or the
Bond record.

Keep in touch
The best way to avoid losing track of
any accounts or investments you have
with NS&I is to let us know whenever
you change your address (or name). If
we know your contact details are up to
date, we can keep you informed about
any savings you have with us.
If you have one or more of our accounts
and investments that can be managed
online and by phone, and you have
already registered for this service, then
you can change your address by logging
in at nsandi.com or by calling us on
0500 007 007. Please have your NS&I
number and password to hand.
Otherwise you’ll need to complete a
change of details form and post it to:
National Savings and Investments
Glasgow, G58 1SB
If you don’t have a copy of this form,
call us and we’ll send you one.
More about our online
and phone service
More than a million people have registered to use our online and phone
service – as it’s already available for Premium Bonds, Direct Saver and
Direct ISA accounts. And on 20 September 2012 we extended the service
to our fixed term investments as well. So if you invested in or renewed any
Savings Certificates, Guaranteed Growth Bonds, Guaranteed Income Bonds,
Children’s Bonus Bonds or Children’s Bonds on or after that date, you can
now manage them online and by phone.
Register for our online and phone service and you’ll be able to:
• apply for new investments
• keep track of your money
• cash in
• cut down on paper
• keep your personal details up to date
Visit our website or call us to find out more.

Old savings and investments
We have a number of older savings and investments, some
of which have not been on sale for many years. Here are a
few examples to jog your memory.
If you come across these or any others
and would like to check whether or not
they have already been cashed in, write
to us at:
Tracing Service
National Savings and Investments
Blackpool FY3 9YP
Please enclose any relevant documents
you find, such as a passbook, certificate
of investment, or any correspondence.
We will then confirm whether or not
the funds have already been cashed in.
If they haven’t, we will tell you their
current value and let you know how
to claim.
Stamps and Gift Tokens
If you have any National Savings stamps or Gift
Tokens, we will repay them at face value. We
don’t have individual customer records for these,
so they aren’t covered by our Tracing Service.
Please send them, together with details of your
name and address, to:
