Each new season brings changes
in the weather. In fall, the air is
cool and leaves come down from
the trees. In winter, the air is
colder. It snows in some places.
In spring, the air feels warmer.
Flower buds open and grass turns
green. In summer, the air gets hot
and plants grow.
2
But not all places in the world
have the same weather. Some
places have different kinds of
seasons. Let’s find out what other
seasons there are all over the
world!
3
Wet and Dry Seasons
Some places have a wet
season. In the wet season, it rains
and rains for many days.
Then it stops raining and the
sun shines all day. It is the dry
season! It does not rain much for
the rest of the year.
4
Many parts of the world have
wet and dry seasons. The rain
forests in South America have wet
and dry seasons. The rain forests
need both wet weather and dry
weather so plants can grow.
5
Tornado Season
A tornado is a special kind of
storm. The wind blows very fast
and spins in a circle. In some
places, many tornadoes happen at
the same time of year. This time
of year is called tornado season.
6
Hurricane Season
A hurricane is a storm that
has strong winds and lots of rain.
Hurricanes start by the ocean and
move to the land. Most hurricanes
happen around the same time of
year. This time of year is called
hurricane season.
7
Polar Day Season
In places near the North and
South Poles, the sun does not set
for many weeks. This time of year
is called Polar Day, because the
sun never goes down. During this
season, you can still see the yellow
sun shine at midnight!
8
Polar Night Season
Places near the North and
South Poles also have a season
when the sun never rises. This
time of year is called Polar Night.
It is dark during the day and
the night.
9
So if you thought that there
were only four seasons, think
again. There are many different
kinds of seasons all over
the world!
