Wolfgang's mother, a constantly ill housewife, was born to a middle class family of local community
leaders. His only sister was Maria Anna. With their father’s encouragement and guidance, they both were
introduced to music at an early age. Leopold started Anna on keyboard when she was seven, as threeyear old Wolfgang looked on. Mimicking her playing, Wolfgang quickly began to show a strong
understanding of chords, tonality, and tempo. Soon, he too was being tutored by his father.
Leopold was a devoted and task-oriented teacher to both his children. He made the lessons
fun, but also insisted on a strong work ethic and perfection. Fortunately, both children excelled well in
these areas. Recognising their special talents, Leopold devoted much of his time to their education in

Health promotion and disease prevention programs focus on keeping people healthy.

Health promotion programs aim to engage and empower individuals and communities to choose healthy
behaviours and make changes that reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases and other morbidities.
Defined by the World Health Organization, health promotion is: “The process of enabling people to
increase control over, and to improve, their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behaviour
towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions.”
Disease prevention differs from health promotion because it focuses on specific efforts

related to health promotion and disease prevention. Wellness is described as the attitudes and active

Adele has been one of the world's most well-known singers and songwriters in recent years. Born in North
London in 1988, Adele started singing at a young age and she was mostly influenced by the Spice Girls. At the age
of 16, Adele composed her first hit song, "Hometown Glory".
When she was a student at the British School for Performing Arts and Technology, she recorded three songs
for a class project. All these songs later were posted on MySpace.com and became very popular. As a result, she
was offered a record deal from XL Recordings after her graduation. Her first album "19" debuted at number one
on the British charts in 2008.
In March 2008, she did a short tour in America and soon her international career began. In 2011, her second
album, "21", came out. The music on this album was different from the soul music of "19". It was influenced by
American country music, which Adele was listening to during her tour.
In 2012, she wrote and recorded "Skyfall" for the James Bond film of the same name. The song sold more
than two million copies worldwide and for it Adele won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

CDC strives to safeguard the health and improve the quality of life of all people with
diabetes. Central to that effort is helping them prevent or reduce the severity of diabetes
complications, including heart disease (the leading cause of early death among people with
diabetes), kidney disease, blindness, and nerve damage that can lead to lower-limb amputations.
Diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) programs help people meet

the challenges of self-care by providing them with the knowledge and skills to deal with daily
diabetes management: eating healthy food, being active, checking their blood sugar, and
managing stress. These programs have been shown to reduce A1C levels (average blood sugar
over the last 2 to 3 months), reduce the onset and severity of diabetes complications, improve
quality of life, and lower health care costs.
Diabetes is about 17% more prevalent in rural areas than urban ones, but 62% of rural
counties do not have a DSMES program. The use of telehealth (delivery of the program by
phone, Internet, or videoconference) may allow more patients in rural areas to benefit from
DSMES and the National DPP lifestyle change program. CDC funds state and local health
departments to improve access to, participation in, and health benefit coverage for DSMES, with
emphasis on programs that achieve American Association of Diabetes Educators accreditation or
American Diabetes Association recognition. These programs meet national quality standards and
may be more sustainable because of reimbursement eligibility.
