2021 KPRC Senior Scholarship Guidelines

KPRC 2, with the cooperation of public high schools from Harris, Brazoria, Chambers,
Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery, and Waller Counties, will award twenty (20)
$2,500 scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Winning students and schools
will be featured weekly in KPRC 2’s newscasts beginning the week of January 25, 2021.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
KPRC 2 is asking high schools in the following public school districts to nominate TWO
students per high school campus:

Nominees should fit the following criteria:
 Student is a graduating senior who has been accepted (or has a pending
application) to a two- or four-year college in the Fall
 Student has good to strong grades
 Student exhibits outstanding leadership skills and is committed to his/her
education and community
 Students who have overcome significant obstacles, shown measured
improvement and/or demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities will be
given additional consideration
KPRC 2 has the sole responsibility of selecting the winning students. Each $2,500
scholarship is a one-time payout to the student’s college or university and should be
used during the 2021-2022 school year.

HOW TO SUBMIT A NOMINATION
A single representative from each high school submitting nominees should enter the
students’ application information on the following website:

/>Please note the web page should NOT be widely distributed. We are only accepting
two nominees per school, so any additional entrants that come in after the first two will
not be considered.
The application form calls for the school representative to enter basic information about
the student and to upload an essay (500 words or less) written by the student explaining
why they deserve to be a KPRC 2 Senior Scholar.
We are accepting applications beginning immediately and will continue to accept them
until April 9, 2021. Students will be awarded scholarships between the first week of
February and the last week of May. The nominee pool will grow as the spring semester
progresses, so nominees submitted early will have a greater chance and more
opportunities to be selected.

About KPRC 2
KPRC 2 is the NBC affiliate for Houston, TX. The station is owned by The Graham Holdings Company (NYSE: GHC) and is one of seven in the television division along
