WHY STUDY
AT LA TROBE?
The Faculty of Business, Economics
and Law is made up of LaTrobe Business
School, LaTrobe Law School and the
School of Economics. We are a quality
provider of innovative postgraduate
education and research.
OUTSTANDING STAFF
AND RESEARCH
We are proud of our outstanding
professoriate–leaders in a diverse range
of research disciplines. In the most recent
review of research performance conducted
by the Australian Government’s Excellence
in Research for Australia (ERA), LaTrobe’s
research in Tourism was rated as above
world standard, while our work in the fields
of Accounting and Law were both rated as
at world standard.
Our investment in research ensures
LaTrobe continues its tradition of delivering
a valuable and relevant contribution to its
community. Our research also ensures that

our teaching continues to be informed by
the most up-to-date developments in
Australia and abroad.
A FLEXIBLE LEARNING
ENVIRONMENT
We understand that juggling family life,
employment, and study can be challenging.
We’ve developed flexible, blended-learning
opportunities so you can more easily fit
your studies into your everyday life.
Some of our courses also include early-exit
options. This means that once you have
achieved the requisite number of credit
points you can opt out of your degree
with a Graduate Certificate or a Graduate
Diploma, and complete your course at
a later date should you wish.
Our curriculum development team, which
includes a dedicated eLearning Developer
and an expert team of curriculum designers,
oversee the ongoing development of our
courses to ensure that we continue to meet
your needs.
THE NEW LA TROBE MBA
We make sure that our courses are
developed and updated in consultation
with dedicated industry advisory boards
and that they respond to research findings
into global trends.
We are proud of the redesigned LaTrobe

MBA, a program that includes block mode
and after hours contact options, as well as
an accelerated 12 month option. Students
of the program will soon enjoy a new
Melbourne CBD teaching facility. All these
features make the blend of professional
and study life easier than ever.
OUR GREAT FACILITIES
Our students enjoy 24-hour, seven-day
access to one of the finest libraries in the
Southern Hemisphere. You will have access to
an outstanding collection of printed, digital
and audio-visual materials, state-of-the-art
group work and collaboration areas, and
dedicated research carrels for when you
need to focus without interruption.
We have also invested in student common
areas throughout our buildings. These
architecturally-designed areas extend our
library facilities and include lockers, recharge
units and kitchen facilities. And of course,
you will enjoy free wi-fi connectivity on all
of our campuses.
You will also enjoy access to regular,
engaging seminars and workshops on
research and emerging trends in business,
economics and law. These seminars are
delivered by LaTrobe academic sta, visiting
academics from local and international
universities, and industry professionals.

2 Business, Economics and Law Postgraduate Course Guide 2013
We understand that balancing a career, family and study
can be challenging; and that there are a variety of reasons
to take on postgraduate study.
STUDY YOUR WAY
circumstances that make it hard for you to
continue study. You can then recommence
your studies with LaTrobe at a later time
and receive credits for completed subjects.
You can also choose to complete part of
your degree at one of our many international
partner universities, at no additional cost,
through our Student Exchange Program.
* Please note: Part-time study is not available
for international students.
We’ve invested significantly in our courses
to ensure that they can be adapted to fit in
with your commitments and tailored to help
you achieve your goals.
We believe that the challenge of balancing

life’s many commitments should not stop
you from taking on postgraduate study.
Our programs feature a range of options
that can be adjusted throughout your course.
Some of these flexible options include
part-time study
*
, block mode delivery and
accelerated learning opportunities.
You might be surprised to learn that
even Master’s programs, such as the new
LaTrobe MBA, can be completed in as
little as 12 months.
The majority of our courses also feature a
wide range of elective subjects which allow
you to tailor your degree to your strengths
and interests. There are also early exit
options for some of our courses that
allow you to exit a degree with a Graduate
Certificate or a Postgraduate Diploma.
This may be helpful for those unforeseen

could be eligible for government loans
to pay full fees (through FEE-HELP) or

MARkETING
“La Trobe’s Master of
Marketing Management
provided me with the
flexibility to complete
my postgraduate
degree while still
being able to work
full-time. I found
La Trobe’s educational
culture encouraged
learning by oering
flexibility, and
lecturers were
approachable with
exceptional industry
experience. They
used industry-related
examples to explain
the theories and
concepts which
made the content
of the subjects easier
to understand.”
