Numbers: Journey to God’s Rest Land

Numbers is the story of God leading His
people, Israel, through wildernesses on their
way to Canaan, the rest land He promised.
The journey moves from Mount Sinai to the
plains of Moab, opposite Jericho. First it is a
brief journey in the dark unknown,
demanding the utmost in trust and patience.
Then it is a long, aimless wandering in
judgment for unbelief, consuming all but a
few of the original travelers. Finally, it is a
new and swift journey by the next
generation with a few of the old leaders,
reviving the hopes of the nation to
appropriate the original promise of a land of
rest and blessing.
As the book of Numbers closes, the people
