Carnival Spinner

Watching this brightly-colored top spin around and
around may bring back memories of a fun-filled day
at an amusement park. Carnival Spinner is a modular
design made up of seven units. You can create the units
during coffee breaks and connect them at lunchtime.

PAPER: Create the model from the seven sheets of
designated folding paper included in the back of the
book starting on page 165. You can also use seven squares
of 6-inch origami paper in assorted colors.

1 Start with a completed

over from top to bottom

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: If you are folding the model
from the included folding paper, in order to achieve
the color wheel effect it is necessary that you fold and
connect the units in the following sequence determined
by the color of the solid-color side of each paper: yellow,
yellow-green, grass green, blue, purple, red, and orange.

3 Turn the model over from
side to side so that it is in the
position shown in the next
step.

5 Open the two folds at
the top. Fold the bottom
corner up ¼". (Tip: If you
peek ahead in the diagrams,
you will discover that you
will be making all seven
units exactly the same. It is
a good idea to perform the
procedure that you have just

completed on all seven units
before going ahead. Match
each of the units to the first
unit to ensure that you are
folding the bottom tip up by
the same amount.)
