Friends
Created by Marcia Joy Miller
Friends is a modular origami model made from two
units, each representing a child. If you try to stand the
two children separately, each will topple over. However,
when the two children “hold hands,” they will stand. You
can make each unit during a coffee break. They can be
connected in a few seconds.

PAPER: Use two 5½-inch squares of medium weight
bond paper in different colors.

the model over from side

position shown in the next
step.

BASIC TECHNIQUES: A knowledge of how to make a
valley fold and a mountain fold is all that is needed (see
Chapter 1—Terms and Symbols)

from it. Unfold.

from the bottom up to
the center crease and then
pressing the new fold flat.
(This procedure is shown in
progress in the next step and
the result is shown in step 7.)

open to a full right angle)
you will find that it will not

stand or will tip over easily.
Before proceeding, close the

last step.
