Chapter I: Introduction
I. Background
Nowadays, part-time job is very popular among college students. It is gradually
becoming an essential part in their lives. Although there are various choices in different

fields, most of them tend to work at bubble tea shops. Therefore, we do a research on bubble
tea shops part-time job tendency of IBD students
II. Rationale/ Purpose of the research
These days young people in Vietnam have spent a lot of money on bubble tea. It becomes
more and more popular among students and even adults, as it is affordable and easily
becomes “addictive”. Consequently, more bubble tea shops are opened. In the need of finding
part-time jobs, college students have more work oppotunities. Especially, there are many IBD
students recently working at these stores. This research gives an insight into IBD students’
point of view on the trend of working in bubble tea shops.
In our research, we would like to gather some information about IBD Intake 14 students’
perspective on the trend of working part-time at bubble tea shops. It will help us
understand more about the job and the reasons why they are interested in doing this parttime work.

III. Methodology
To present, we use two main data sources: Primary Data and Secondary Data.
- Primary Data:
+ The research survey questionnaire seek information about salary, times, .. when
people have part-time jobs at bubble tea shops
+ The questions will be given out to about 50 students at IBD to address the most
relevant and effective questions.
+ The answers will be collected and used as information for the research.

-Secondary Data:
+ Look up some information for research on the Internet, articles, magazines or other
sources, which are taken before and have the keyword of “ Part-time job at Bubble tea
shops”.

+ The information and statistic that relate to the topics will be analyzed, then decide
which could be useful for our research.

The pie chart above illustrates the answers of the question “Have you ever worked in a bubble
tea store ?”. 38% of respondents said that they used to work at a bubble tea store, and this figure
was the same as that of those who said yes. It is very easy to understand because perhaps people
who used to work at a bubble tea store have found a new job which is more suitable. For people
who have answered yes, this is a new job which is a big step for them to get to know the outside
world especially for freshmen. However, besides, they can learn how to get balance between
working and studying, which is much more important. On the other hand, only 24% of students
participating in the survey haven’t worked at bubble tea shops. Perhaps they do not know this
job, or they don’t like this job, or even they want to find a job which is more challengin or
simply they just want to focus on their study.

most students still spend their time studying and resting properly. On the other hand, there are
16% who work for 8 hours or more than 8 hours for a day. Perhaps they find it difficult to
manage their own timetable. The next highest ratios are 14% students working at bubble tea

reasonable salary, it can totally be a source of income for some students. That is clear shown in
figure 8, there are78% and 6% who are satisfied and absolutely satisfied with that salary, while
the percentage of people in the survey are unsatisfied with that salary just has 16%. On the other
hand, only 8% who chose this job to learn business. Especially, no one chose part-time job at

Standing too much is the most interesting issue, which takes up to 40%. Because the bubble
stores always crowded so students need to move a lot to serve customers. The second proportion
is the difficulty of arranging work time and study time, with 30%. This is the main reason why
many students have bad results in each test at school. 22% is the number of the problem of
students that must be talking too much while working at the bubble tea shops.

Figure 13: Presure of the jobs

punctuality is the greatest pressure for students to go to work at the bubble tea shops. It is easy to
understand because the students do not adapt with workplace arrangements. Next, fastidiousness
from customers is the second reason which get pressure for student to go to work at the bubble
tea store. There are 24% of students think that. Working at the bubble tea shop must satisfy the
customer, but it is not a simple task because young people do not have much experience handling
the situation so the desire to hard-hearted customers is not easy. Next, in the survey, we see that
22% of students think that comparison from colleagues is the one of reason put pressure for
students to go to work at the bubble tea store. Comparison is a good action, which help people
recognize strengths and weaknesses of themselves to try to improve. Next, there are 16% of

Figure 14: Solutions
48% of students participating in the survey said giving priority to learning over working,
which takes the highest percentage of the chart is the best solution. Most of the young focuses
on learning and is scared of slipping off in class. Moreover, they recognize that education is their
main path of their life. On the other hand, only 20% of them recommended that they should work
less than 8 hours per day. After further investigation, we learned that those who are spending 8
hours per day for work chose that because they do not have a lot of freetime nor do they have the
stamina to work more. Also some even said that they do not need to work a lot becaude their
parents have already provided for them. The remaining 32% said the best way is reasonable time
division because they need to know how to balance between learning and doing part-time jobs to
get the best results and avoid distraction from studying.
According to research, the respondents give us some advice in order to do this job well,
students have to: arrange reasonable time, know their strengths and weaknesses, make a
timetable for studying and working, try to find other ways to make their work easier so that they
can shorten the time needed to finish work, concentrate on their work and learn more new things.
On the other hand, some believe that working at bubble tea stores is not a good idea, unless the
salary is higher (about 8 millions per month). Finally, students should stick to the rule and be
friendlier.

IBD students have given different opinions about the solution dealing with the issues
surrounding the IBD students’ perspectives on the trend in part-time jobs at bubble tea shops.
Once again, the respondents are asked to give some suggestions to reduce the problems of parttime jobs at bubble tea shops. They offer a number of solutions, such as relocating, renewing
scedules, leaving the job and relying on parental support, balancing the time between study and
work. Furthermore, some respondents commented that they should just give their best.

Chapter III: Conclusion
We can see that most of students today have a part-time job, and work at bubble tea store is a
common job with students now. Reasons explain to that is this is not a demanding job, however
it has a reasonable salary and flexible time for students.
This project aimed at IBD students who had experience of work at bubble tea store. In our
research, we want to give some information about the trend of doing part-time job at bubble tea
shops. Moreover, this also provides advantages and disadvantages of this job through IBD

challenges when they were doing at bubble tea shops. Over the recent years, business bubble tea
in Vietnam has been increasing a lot, which we can see that bubble tea shops are everywhere. So,
this means that they need more human resources for this job. After completing this survey, we
