DISCUSS AB NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF FB ON STUDENTS
+ Đình: Let’s talk about the effect of social media on students.
+ Hân: I must admit that this is an interesting topic to talk today, and we
will have a lot of things to discuss about it.
+ Trúc: Exactly !! With the advancement of technology, many individual
now spend much of their time in front of screens rather than engaging in
outside activities. Obviously, we must admit that people using it anytime.
+Hân: So do you realize that the internet has emerged as the most effective
means of disseminating information?
+Trúc: Yeah, I totally agree with you.Honestly, nowadays, there are many
popular social web such as Instagram, Tik Tok, Twitter,…but FB is a very
famous social networking site with over 800 million users, especially
young people use the most
+Ngân: Hmm. Facebook is a social network platform where people can
connect with each others and also for exchanging ideas.
+Đình: Fb has its two advantages and disadvantages, but our teacher told
us to discuss about negative sides. (thầy kiu lít đờ nối câu dẫn zơ)
+Hân: Well, such a great topic for us to discuss. From my perspective, the
overuse of FB has a lot of negative influences on students’ academic
achievement. I used to spend a lot of time on Facebook, and I'm not doing
my homework. Then I failed my exam and I'll have to do it again. So, I
must say that being addicted to FB will affect your studies.
+Đình: Right, it’s has a big effect on students. So Ngân and Trúc, Do you
have any ideas?
+Ngân: I must admit that young generations waste much time on Fb to. All
the time they keep busy with Fb in order to surf the net or maybe just wait
for the hot news. However, they don’t know that’s the reason why they
always get distracted from learning.
+Đình: So, if students are not careful, Facebook will disturb their studies
and the outcome may be get a low score on exam.
+Trúc: Definitely. I think FB has become the playground for students, so

they always have lost their interest in real-life. Many of them do not even

spare time with parents and other family member. For example, when they
have free time, they spend it to take selfie to post on FB, and they waste
their time to watch whose like or comment on their post.
+ Hân: Hmmmm... They believe that FB is the place that they can show
their characteristic. So they spend too much time on its to build their
profile.
+ Trúc: In fact, friends, families, partners these day are no longer excited
about engaging in face to face conversation. They even feel disconcerted
that they have nothing to say. To meet the requirement myself, make
friends or reduce stress, they use Fb more and more, therefore they
become a FB addicts.
+ Ngân: That’s terrible. It would fail to close the distance between family
members.
+Hân: Oh, that’s quite bad. Moreover, I think if students use FB too much,
they will lose their ability to communicate with people because all the time
they always care their phone. Seriously, they will don’t know how to
express their emotions or whats they think. That’s a big problem!!
+ Ngân: I absolutely agree with your point. When students use FB to
communicate with each other, they will not have the opportunity to show
how they feel in reality.
+Đình: Yeah, I can’t agree more with all of these ideas. From my
perspective, addicted to FB also lead to serious effect on our mental health.
+Trúc: As you know, young pp spend too much time surfing the Internet,
especially Facebook, It attract them by smart and convenient features, the
lastest informations, useful pages about topics’s life. Suprisingly, spending
too much time on social media bring about many consequences to user
both mentally and physically. For instance , staring at the screen for hours

can cause eye irritation , enery drain or memory impairment.
+ Hân: That’s true.. However, using Facebook for a long time will make
you feel tired. Moreover, your mental health will face with lots of
problem, such as short-sightedness, headaches,..

+ Ngân: Exactly !! You can see that most students today are nearsighted,
and I think one of the main reasons is that they use their phones to surf
Facebook when the lights are off.
+ Hân: Yeah, and I see that on their birthdays, they stay up all night to post
their photos and status on FB.
The purpose of doing this is to get more likes and congratulatory
comments. The result of staying up at night will have a long
term impact on their health.
+ Trúc: Wow, it’s incredible!, I just remember that the most noticeable one
its adverse effects on juvenile minds. Honestly, most of young pp usually
tend to purse the trendy clothes, wasting much money to buy anything on
many website. This can cause conflits and tensions between parents and
their financial dependent children.
+ Đình: Certainly.. I understand what all of you mean and I must admit
that FB have bad effect for our physical health. So what do you think when
children have read fake news on FB ?
+ Ngân: Of course, that’s a huge problems because students are lack of
experience to distinguish what news is fake and what news is real.
+ Đình: Hmmm...could you make it clear ?
+ Trúc: Of course, you can easily find that there are lots of fakenews on
FB, and almost students read it everyday. They gradually lose the ability of
select useful informations
+ Hân: Exactly !! And the consequences of beliving and spreading
fakenews was serious.

+ Ngân: I think that the potential of fake news on FB is clearly. For
example, publishing a person’s private address can put them at risk of
physical danger.
+ Trúc: You are absolutely right , Futhermore, if students spreading
fakenews on FB, its may lead to social unrest. Seriously, a fake violent
incident can lead to political warefare, social unrest,..
+ Hân: Yeah.. Fake news is created to change students beliefs, attitudes, or
perceptions, so students will ultimately change their behavior.

+ Đình: I absolutely agree with all of your points. Addicted on FB of
students will lead to many negative effects. First is in their study, second is
they lost their real life. Third is an impact on their mental health, and
finally, is the dangerous of fakenews on FB that they read everyday.
