do)
 Chúng ta dùng going to (do) khi nói đến một việc chúng ta sẽ quyết định sẽ
làm hay một việc chúng ta dự định làm trong tương lai.
o A: There’s a film on television tonight.Are you going to watch it ?
B: No, I’m tired.I’m going to have an early night.
o A: I heard Ann has won a lot of money.What is she going to do
with?
B: I’ve heard she’s going to travel round the world
A: Have you make the coffee yet?
B: No,But I’m just going to make it.( Just = ngay lúc này)
 Nói về những hành động ở tương lai nhưng có sự khác biệt rõ ràng.
Helen:My bicycle has a flat tyre.Can you repair it for me ?
Father:Okay,I can’t do it now.I’ll repair it tomorrow
 Will dùng khi chúng ta quyết định ngay lúc nói.Trước đó người nói chưa
quyết định làm .Trước khi Helen nói cho cha cơ,thì ơng ấy chưa có ý
định làm

 Going to: Chúng ta dùng nó khi trước đó chúng ta có ý định,quyết định
làm một điều gì đó.
 Ex: Bin: Su,we haven’t got any salt.

Su : Oh,haven’t we? I’ll get some from the shop then.

 Ann: I’m going to get some salt from the shop (she has already
decided).

Chúng ta dùng going to chứ không dùng will nói về một điều mà chúng ta nghĩ
sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai khi có một cái gì đó ở tình huống hiện tại cho thấy sẽ

xảy ra trong tương lai(tương lai gần).
- Look at those black clouds.It’s going to rain,(the clouds are there now)
- I feel terrible.I think I’m going to be sick. (I feel terrible now)


Nhưng thơng thường chúng ta nói về tương lai,chúng ta nói khơng có sự sắp xếp
hay ý định: Helen chỉ nói điều mà cơ ý nghĩa có thể xảy ra.mang tính đốn trước
Trong tương lai
Tom:I’m very worried about my examination next week
Helen:Don’t worry,Tom.You will pass.
- When you return home,you’ll notice a lot of changes
- This time next year,I’ll be in Singapore.Where will you be ?
- Tom won’t pass his examination.He hasn’t done any work for it.

 Chúng ta thường dùng Present Continous nói về một việc ai đó sắp xếp thực
hiện- Đi đâu,gặp ai.
o What time are you meeting Bin? ( be going to)
o I’m travelling to Qatar on Wednesday.
Take note: Thì Present Continous ( Hiện tại tiếp diễn) mang ý nghĩa tương lai ,Ý
định đã quyết định xong và đã sắp xếp để thực hiện những việc đó.

Be + Ving ( I am doing ….)
o What are you doing tomorrow evening ?
I’m going to theatre.
o Huy is coming here.
o Are you meeting him at the station ?
No,I’m working at the office tomorrow.

Was / were going to + V
 Để nói về một việc ai đó đã dự định làm trong quá khức( nhưng không thực

hiện được)
o We were going to Hai Phong by train but then we decided to
go by car.
o A: Did Tom do the homework ?
B: No,he was going to do it but in the end he changed his
mind.
o I was just going to cross the road when someonr shouted
“stop”.
 Dùng going to khi nói về một điều mà chúng ta nghĩ sẽ xảy ra ở tình
huống hiện tại. Người đó cảm thấy chắc chắn về điều sẽ xảy ra do tình
huống hiện tại.
