INTRODUCTION
TIFF Round Up as of September 16, 2011 saw more than 40+ films sold to territories in North
America, Europe, The Middle East, Asia, South America, and Australia, with more sales
expected to be announced over time. Key acquisitions include: Shame, Trishna, Wuthering
Heights, Killer Joe, The Lady, Goon, God Bless America, Elles, Your Sister’s Sister and Into the
Abyss. Nearly 4,000 industry delegates attended the Festival this year – a 20% growth over 2010
– and worked closely with the Festival’s Sales & Industry Office, which facilitates information
sharing and fosters relationships between accredited buyers, sales agents, producers and
filmmakers. Film sales confirmed to date include: Beauty, Beloved, Elles, Free Men, Generation

American rights. Starring, written and directed by actor Mathieu Demy, (the son of directing
greats Agnes Varda and Jacques Demy) film is about the journey of a man through his childhood
memories. It also stars Salma Hayek (Grown Ups, Frida) and two other children of world
cinema icons: Chiara Mastroianni (Persepolis, Carnage), the daughter of Catherine Deneuve and
Marcello Mastroianni, and Geraldine Chaplin (Doctor Zhivago, Talk to Her), the daughter of
Charlie Chaplin. MPI plans a spring theatrical release for the film, to be followed by release on
