Tom: Hi Jack, I’m doing a survey on teenagers’ hobbies. Can I ask you a few questions?
Jack: Yes, go ahead.
Tom: Thanks. What do you often do in your leisure time?
Jack: Well, it’s actually not a popular type of hobbies, but in my free time I like doing origami.
Tom: You mean creating things from paper?
Jack: Yes. That’s exactly what I do – folding paper!
Tom: How long have you been doing it?
Jack: Well, it all started two years ago on my trip to Japan. I watched some origami artists
folding some paper animals and I liked it.
Tom: What do you enjoy about it?
Jack: It’s easy, inexpensive and great to share with others.
Tom: What do you do with the stuff you made?
Jack: I give some to my friends as birthday gifts, and sell some to get money.

Audio Script:
Ha: So what do you often do at the Youth Club?
Tom: Many things… We go to hospitals to provide food for poor patients.
Ha: How often do you do that?
Tom: Once a week.
Ha: Do you go to nursing houses?
Tom: Yes. It’s part of our programmes.
Ha: What do you often do there?
Tom: Well, the elderly often feel lonely. We come to be friends and supporters.
Ha: They must be happy when you come!
Tom: Sure. They consider us their nieces or nephews.
Ha: That sounds great! What else do you often do?
Tom: We also come to orphanages and help children learn English during summer months…
Ha: I wish I could join your club!

Hi Helen,
Christmas is coming and how about taking part in a pop music show for students? It will be at
the Cultural House for Youth this weekend, just two days before Christmas. There will be our
two favourite bands playing their recent hits! It will definitely bring us lots of fun. If you can go,
is it OK to meet at our school gate at 6.45 p.m. this Saturday and catch a bus there? I’ll bring
some lemon juice for both of us.
Write me soon.
