What qualities do students need to succeed in university?
Being successful in university can be challenging, but it is resolvable if students
own these two qualities. First, personal management. Because the university is
considered as an open environment that enables students to fully take ownership
of their time, responsibilities, and finance, personal management is a necessary
skill. This includes the ability for students to independently plan, organize,
create, and execute, rather than wait for someone to do for them. Second, critical
thinking and problem-solving skills. Through technology, the amount of
information available today is massive; therefore, filtering information for
lessons might become difficult and confusing. Critical thinking helps students to
be more precise and specific in taking in relevant data. Moreover, students can
learn how to solve their own problems via critical thinking. To sum up, students
can step one foot closer to university-succeed if they accurately improve
personal management and critical thinking skills.
