Listening assignment 2

THEME 7 – ART & MUSIC
I.

Summary

The listening is about the helpfulness of art and music in healing. A character
named Michael showed art and music’ impacts via three researches on unborn
babies, cancer patients and elderly patients. The first research proofed that live
music can affect the baby in the womb positively. It help to boost unborn babies’
heartbeat, which considered as good sign to the baby’s health. In the second
project, cancer patients reported that artistic pictures distract them from
chemotherapy treatments. That made them felt less pain and they also recorded
increased feeling of well-being. The last study played classical music to elderly
patients. Not only were music influenced patients but also the hospital’s staffs.
They made elderly patients felt less anxious and the staff felt happier

Reflection
Through the listening, I figured out an important impact of art and music. Beside
entertaining benefits, art and music also contribute to healing process. I think
this energy from art and music should be applied broadly into medicine as
patients have to suffer from both physical and mental pains.
