1. Introduction

1.1. The choose a topic:
During the recent years, our Party and State have always considered
"Education is the leading national policy”. The State has spent a lot of resources
prioritizing investment in the development of education.The state has many
sources.The 2nd Central Executive Committee meeting session VIII pointed out:
“Strongly renovating educational and training methods, overcoming one-way
communication, training creative thinking of learners. Step by step applying
advanced and modern methods into the teaching process ”[1]. In the Education
Law, Clause 2, Article 24 states: “The method of general education must
promote students' activeness, self-discipline and initiative; suitable with the
characteristics of each class and subject; fostering self-study methods, training
skills to apply knowledge into practice, affect emotions, bring joy and
excitement to students ”[2]. Innovating the way of implementing teaching
method is a key issue of Vietnam's education renovation policy in the current
period. Innovating ways of implementing teaching method will radically change
the thinking and working style of the generations of students - the future owners
of the country. Thus, innovating teaching method will impact on every element
of the education and training process. It creates modernization of this process.
Innovating teaching method is not essentially replacing old teaching methods
with a series of new teaching methods. In essence, "Innovating teaching method
is innovating the way of conducting methods, innovating means and methods of
deploying methods on the basis of thoroughly exploiting the advantages of the
old methods and applying flexibly some new methods to maximize the active,
active and creative learners "[5]. The purpose of innovating teaching method is
how to make students really active, proactive, self-conscious, always anxious to
explore, think and create in the process of acquiring knowledge and
comprehending both ways to acquire that knowledge to develop and perfect
your personality.
In particular, the foreign language - English subject, is one of the
languages that acts as a positive means to support the most effective integration

process of the country. Therefore, improving the quality of education in general
and the quality of English subjects in particular is one of the top concerns of the
current educational career. And that is paying more attention to primary school
students who are just beginning to access foreign languages. Learning English in
elementary school helps students build and develop their communication skills
through listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, and is one of the
important starting points that contribute to the formation and development of
English. develop lifelong learning skills, future work capacity and ability to
participate in socio-cultural activities. Learning English in elementary school
also creates the foundation for continuing to learn English at subsequent levels
as well as equipping basic language learning skills to learn other languages in
the future.
Over the past two years, the COVID-19 epidemic has seriously affected
all aspects of social life. Education and training is one of the industries heavily

affected by this pandemic, but this is also a push for us to change our
management thinking and promote creativity in each individual, family, and
home. schools and the entire education sector, improving the ability to adapt to
new circumstances and providing an opportunity to promote digital
transformation and innovation in education. The school year 2021-2022 is a
special and difficult school year for all professions, including education and
training. Together with the whole country in epidemic prevention and control to
ensure "Stop going to school but don't stop learning" the education and training
sector has had many solutions, of which online teaching is one of the solutions
implemented so far.
Also in the context of the epidemic, I myself and many other teachers

have overcome difficulties, actively and flexibly converted to online teaching.
Many teachers have promoted creativity to find ways to bring lessons and
knowledge to students. In fact, the younger the student, the more difficult it is to
learn online due to psychological characteristics such as the ability to
concentrate, the ability to interact with technology, etc. This is an issue that
teachers and parents need to pay special attention to them. In particular, children
have to study a lot of subjects at the same time, for a long time online, children
easily lose focus, get bored of studying and lose interest in learning.
Stemming from that fact, I have researched websites, applications, software such
as: Violet, Quizizz, Wordwall, Padlet, Kahoot, Google from, from in Team [8],

combined in these Online lessons help students understand the lesson, the
lecture is not dry and boring in each class. Besides, I would like to find a
software, or an application to combine with online teaching applications to help
reinforce the knowledge after each lesson, and especially help them to complete
the learning process. take the initiative in learning, review the knowledge after
each topic, each lesson". During the teaching process, I became acquainted with
and used Quizizz software - an application used to test and assess knowledge in
English through the form of multiple choice answers. The multiple-choice
questions in Quizizz belong to many categories with different levels for students
to try and assess their own level; or teachers, parents can access questionnaires
shared by others to use in teaching and tutoring their children. Overall, Quizizz
is suitable for both home and classroom learning.
From that point of view, I have chosen the topic "Some experiences of
using Quizizz in the assessment of students learning English online in
primary school" to provide some solutions that I have personally learned. and
will continue to promote to test and evaluate students' knowledge, and at the
same time bring Quizizz into the lesson to help change the atmosphere in online
classes, make lessons less stressful and easier to understand, and help learners
easy to remember and absorb knowledge deeply.These are my little experiences,

I have done and achieved very good results. We hope that these experiences
contribute to complement and enrich the teaching methods of colleagues

The purpose of the topic is to study the situation of foreign language
teaching for elementary school students and foreign language learning of
elementary school students, their interest in the subjects and methods of learning
foreign languages by using Quizizz.
- Thereby finding the strengths and weaknesses of their learning method, as well
as in the teacher's teaching method, thereby proposing solutions to improve the
quality of foreign language subjects in elementary schools.
1.3. Research subjects.

elementary students.

In this topic, I have used the following research methods:
1.4.1. Theoretical research method.
Read some books, reference materials, search the Internet for documents
related to the use of using Quizizz in English lessons.
1.4.2. Observation survey method:
In order to research the subject in depth, I investigated the reality of
teaching and learning English in elementary school. Interview and schedule
English teachers, combined with professional teams and school administrators.

2.Content
2.1. Theoretical basis of the initiative
In recent years, the education sector has always been innovated in terms of
goals, content and methods as well as active teaching arrangements, contributing
to improving the quality of education. For any subject, it is very important to
engage students and engage them in lessons. That not only helps them
understand the lesson faster, but also helps them deepen their knowledge and
remember the lesson better. Since then, their ability to think and focus is newly
developed. Thus, to have an interesting lesson for students requires teachers to
be more prepared and invested than normal classroom lessons, even the process
of accumulating experience over time. can be effective and persuade students,
make them really interested and focus on the lecture. It is a requirement, an
important goal of the teaching process, especially for English teachers.
Primary education is an important level that contributes to laying the
foundations for the formation and development of student's personality. In
elementary schools today, English is taught as a basic foreign language, an
independent subject, taking up a lot of time in the curriculum of children. Like
other subjects, English is designed to provide initial knowledge about foreign
languages, helping students to have a new communication tool in their first

language, initially developing the ability to identify Critical thinking and prelinguistic skills in practicing English communication in four forms of listening,
speaking, reading and writing. In addition, learning English also helps students

build their ability to express personal ideas confidently, independently and
creatively.
In the context of the increasingly complicated covid pandemic, online
teaching via the Internet is a form of achieving the purpose of education. Online
learning via the Internet ensures the basic principles of cognitive processes in
education. Besides, online learning also has many advantages in line with the
development trend of society, creating a foundation for students to have study
skills to higher education levels. Currently, online teaching via the internet has
been widely popularized, but in essence, it is also difficult and the effectiveness
is not really high. Therefore, the teaching method of teachers has a great
influence on the learning process of students. From that point of view, I believe
that the active teaching method using Quizizz software is one of the effective
methods to meet the requirements of teaching English in the new situation.
2.2. Actual situation before applying experience initiatives.
The primary school English program is built based on the needs of
Vietnamese society and the psycho-physiological characteristics of primary
school students, so in terms of content, it is very interesting, attractive and close
to the daily lives of students. em. However, English is a difficult subject for
students in absorbing new knowledge, understanding and grasping the subject
content of the reading passages, new vocabulary, new structures, comprehensive
development of all four skills. listening, speaking, reading and writing...
Therefore, most students who do not understand the lesson become bored and
passive in class.
In particular, the epidemic situation was serious, the whole country
struggled to fight the covid 19, so my school also had to miss classes for a long
time, so many children forgot all their old knowledge, they scribbled even many
of them have even forgotten the handwriting. Right after the opening day of the
new school year, in order to support the students to continue their studies on
schedule, the school organized online teaching. In the past time, I have
researched the best ways to design online classes with students to achieve high

learning.
In the school year 2021-2022, I was assigned to be in charge of teaching
English 4th grade for 122 students. I myself am very worried because with the
psychology of primary school students, when studying online, they easily feel
bored with the number of assignments assigned and easily have the psychology
of doing homework not really interested. At the same time, the children had a
long break, so when they returned to study, they were very sluggish, bored, and
unfocused. The fading knowledge no longer remembers the key knowledge
learned in 3rd grade. Many children and their parents are stuck far away because
of the epidemic situation and they are not near their children, so they cannot
tutor their children for further study at home. Many children are psychologically
away from their parents, so they have a lot of psychological impact that makes

them not concentrate when studying and often feeling sad, depressed. Therefore,
when imparting knowledge to students, teachers face many difficulties.

With the desire to help students have light online lessons, not pressurized,
engaging lessons that make students interested in learning, easy to absorb
knowledge, I have boldly applied quizizz software to it. teaching online by
Organizing a live game with online multiple choice questions on personal
computer devices, tablets, phones for students. After finishing the Quizizz game,
the teacher will have a fairly detailed statistics table about the players (students)
such as: rankings, number of correct and incorrect answers...
Online teaching method applying quizizz assignment software has the
optimal effect in attracting all types of students to the lesson, stimulating
students' thinking ability, creativity, self-confidence and helping students to
learn more. They easily grasp as well as deepen the amount of knowledge they
have learned. Moreover, quizizz software with a diverse and rich question
system, multiple choice, fill-in, pairing, crossword, drag and drop, ... can be
effectively applied at any stage in a lesson. That is why teachers can manage
their learning and practice with a very vivid and complete statistics table in their

Quizizz admin page.
2.3. Measures used to solve the problem
2.3.1. How to set up a Quizizz account
Quizizz is one of the most famous and widely used tools to support testing and
assessment in teaching. Currently, Quizizz has a Vietnamese version, which is
very convenient for teachers in many subjects to continue applying to their
subjects. Teachers access the link: to register for a free
account. Then the teacher chooses Sign Up to create a new account. (Figure 1).
Here the teacher fills in his personal email or can use Gmail to register. (Figure
2)
Next, the teacher selects As a Teacher in the I'm using Quizizz screen (Figure 3).

So we have created an account quickly. Teachers can also go to View
profile -> Edit profile to reset personal information if needed.
2.3.2.Create Quizizz
2.3.2.1. Teachers create their own set of test questions
With a simple but feature-rich design, teachers can easily use Quizziz to
create a set of multiple-choice questions, organize a contest to evaluate students'
learning results right in the online classroom, very easily. To create a test, the

teacher clicks Create a new quiz on the homepage (Figure 4). Next, the teacher
enters the test name -> select the subject to test. -> Next

 Multiple choice: Multiple choice question
 Checkbox: multiple choice test with multiple answer options.
 Fill – in – the – Blank: Fill in the blanks
 Poll: Survey form to collect information and student opinions.

The teacher chooses an appropriate question type (Figure 5)

So we used Quizizz to create questions, it's simple. And teachers can continue
to choose question types to create new questions for the test. Set the answer time
for the question and click Save to save the question.
2.3.2.2. The teacher imports questions from the Quizizz library
Teachers can add a variety of question types available from the Quizizz
library without spending a lot of time preparing tests for students. This is also a
method that I have used regularly and with great results. Normally it takes me
quite a while to prepare a test for my students, but when I learned about this
amazing feature of Quizizz I was able to compose one or more tests in a short
time. In particular, this software possesses a huge amount of questions in all
subjects and grades. The questions can be accompanied by audio files, vivid
images with the answers of each question. With one account, teachers can create
a quick quiz that suits their purposes and control a contest between students with
specific statistics on who answers the fastest and most correctly. . At the same
time, students will have their own assessment of their own learning ability,
requiring them to master the knowledge and be really sharp when participating
in competitions.
Teachers can access millions of ready-made questions created by the community
of teachers on Quizizz every day. To find more quizzes, follow these steps:

• Click the Search for Quizzes on any topic box on the main page.
• Click on the topic or title you want to check (Figure 7)
• Choose the right question then click add question

After completing the questions for the test the teacher can set some additional
information for his test. In the right pane of the test the teacher can set:(Figure 8)
 Add grades: Add student objects to the test
 Add a title Image: Add an image for the title of the quiz
 Select language: Select the language for the test
 Select grades: Select students from grade to grade.
 Who can see this quiz: Set whether or not to allow others to see the quiz.

2.3.3. Invite students to take the test.
After creating, teachers can use the quiz in 3 ways, corresponding to 3
modes: Play Live, Assign HW and Practice. The first is online play, which
means many people play at the same time. Next is the assignment of homework,
i.e. the teacher will choose a certain time and ask your students to submit the
work before that deadline. Finally, the practice mode, this mode does not limit
the number of times to play and does not save the results to the system. Here, I
will guide you to use the first mode, suitable when the class is taking place, you
click Play Live.( Figure 9)

In this option, the teacher can set the deadline to complete the test for
students and also assign this exercise to multiple classes by clicking the Select
button or entering the teacher's class name in the Assign to a class box. . Then
teachers click Host Game and share the link and test code in the group zalo for
students.
In addition to setting scores, quizizz also allows teachers to shuffle
questions and answers so that when participating in the game, students really
work independently and objectively. Currently, the Quizizz tool has a class
management feature, allows updating classes from Google Classroom (a free
class management application from Google), sending new class invitation emails

in Quizizz only with a mouse button, but not as convenient as other applications,
so it is rarely used. Instructors can also compose a set of questions on an excel
template file and then update it into the system, instead of having to repeatedly
edit questions in the web interface.
2.3.4. Evaluation of students' test results
When the quiz is over, the teacher goes to the Report section to see the statistics
of the players' results for each game that has been held. In the Game Highlight
section above, you can see Quizizz's analysis of the last game such as the correct
answer rate of the whole class, which questions have the most students choosing
wrong, which questions students answer the longest. or average answer time for
each question. Below you can track the statistical overview of the correct /
incorrect answer rate of the whole class or the statistics for each question. If it is
a Live game mode, teachers can observe student results right on the server
screen.

In summary, through the actual teaching process in all grades, when I
apply Quizizz software to my classes, I find it very effective, students grasp the
lesson knowledge, are more interested, and enjoy learning English. and the
quality of student learning is gradually improved.
2.4. Result and lessons
2.4.1. Result
Reality shows that we will not do well what we do not like. Only when
we have interest or create interest in studying and working can we study and
work with high efficiency.
With the psychology of primary school students, they easily feel bored with

the number of assignments assigned and easily have the mentality of not really
enjoying the work. Therefore, with the characteristics of English subject, in
addition to simply assigning exercises, exercises through competition will be
very interesting for students. Quizizz software is a typical software that helps
teachers change the way they assign assignments to students in a positive way.
The software is designed to be simple when students can easily operate it on a
phone or computer with an Internet connection.
With an account logged into this software, teachers can control a
competition between students with specific statistics about who can answer the
fastest and most accurately. Students will then have their own assessment of
their own learning ability, requiring them to master the knowledge and be really
sharp when participating in competitions.
Taking advantage of this, I have often used this software for online and
in-person teaching. I have noticed that my students gradually become interested
in learning English, boldly, and confidently increase their communication skills.
In this school year, I taught to conduct a video lesson of E-learning lecture
for the ministerial exam, Unit 4: Did you go to the party? Lesson 2, In this
lesson, I have integrated teaching with the use of Quizizz software into
reviewing knowledge for students. The lesson has been well appreciated by the

School Board and colleagues and recognized that the application of positive
teaching methods has contributed to increasing teaching effectiveness, helping
to arouse students' confidence and excitement in learning English.

We students are inherently shy and afraid to speak English. Meanwhile,
the speaking period in the program is limited and there is not much time for the
children, so most of them cannot confidently say anything in front of class.
However, since applying the mind map in each lesson, I realize that my students
gradually become much more courageous and confident. Because each time they
draw their mind maps, they have to make presentations. Therefore, the children
are trained in speaking and speaking in front of people and gradually their
shyness is amazingly disappearing.

Although it takes a lot of time to make an electronic lesson plan and
sometimes encounters many technical difficulties, I am very happy to build a
quality electronic lesson plan. Because of that, I have brought my students
many, interesting, and useful hours of study,... .The results that the students have
achieved have made me love and passionate about teaching with applications.

2.4.2. Lessons Learned:
Every teacher has a different mindset and teaching style. But they all have
the same goal of imparting to the students the right knowledge, enough
knowledge to help them understand the lesson and deepen the knowledge as
quickly as possible. However, to be successful in English teaching, it requires
teachers to have a very appropriate teaching method to attract all students to join
them. Just like an artist, as long as they act really well, even someone who is not
knowledgeable about art will enjoy watching until the last second.
Teachers can connect Quizizz to Google Classrooom to share their quizzes
and instantly get results in Google Classroom. After finishing the Quizizz game,
our teachers will have a quite detailed statistics table about the players (students)

such as: rankings, number of correct and incorrect answers... You can use the
game. this to kick off the lesson.
Students can study on computers and phones. It’s safe and suitable for
online learning, helping to consolidate subject knowledge, this is also a review
bank in testing and assessment. Students always know the result without having
to look up the answer and each question when the student gives the wrong
answer, the student can review the knowledge of the lesson, and this can be done
by the student in anywhere, unimpeded by space, time, and distance.
I myself am maintaining the above-mentioned teaching method and I
think that all of us teachers should also actively use Quizizz software in
teaching. However, when applying the teacher also needs to comply with certain
conditions. First of all, each of us teachers must invest, prepare carefully for
preparing students' tests, help students be active in class, get excited before
learning a new lesson or increase their confidence. children when standing in
front of the class. After applying this teaching method for a while, I would like
to share some experiences that have been drawn from my own practice. As I
mentioned above, using Quizizz software in teaching really brings a lot of
efficiency, but teachers also need to apply it flexibly and skillfully in each
specific classroom condition.

In short, how to apply it depends on each lesson and the purpose of the
teacher, but obviously we must see Quizizz as a useful tool for student objects.
With this teaching and learning method, surely in the near future, every
classroom will be a "miniature society", where our students will improve their

English comprehensively because Not only are they trained in grammar, reading
and writing skills, but they also have a real “language environment” to develop
their communication skills, respond to engaging listening and speaking lessons
and bring many effects. Thus, the success of each teacher is also the success of
Vietnamese education with the desire to renew the method of teaching foreign
languages - teaching foreign languages in the direction of communication.
Above are some small experiences about methods to create interest in
learning English for elementary students. There are still many teaching methods
to help students learn English well, which I will continue to study in order to
contribute to improving the quality of this foreign language learning. The issues
presented above are only my own subjective opinions, so certain restrictions
cannot be avoided. I look forward to receiving the comments of colleagues and
superiors' comments to make this topic more and more complete.
3.2 Recommendations
* For parents
- Parents are regularly interested in monitoring and reminding children to study
while at home.
- Encourage students to use Quizizz in studying at home to develop their
thinking abilities and systems.
- Encourage children to study in groups and set up English speaking sessions or
English clubs in class or grade to gradually become more active and confident.
- Ask them to always have the habit of reviewing to inculcate old knowledge.

teaching, applying initiative experiences to make high-quality lessons.
