1. How can companies protect
themselves from eternal theft?
External theft is easier for businesses to deal with.
Examples include breaking and entering and robbery.
Businesses often install alarms to warn them, and to alert
the police when someone illegally enters an
establishment. Some businesses hire security guards to
monitor an establishment and its merchandise. Other
business install security cameras to monitor those
coming in and out of an establishment. Cameras are very
helpful. This way, if a criminal act occurs, it is recorded.
Also , there is proof of who committed the crime.
12

2. How can companies protect
themselves from internal theft?
Internal theft is much more difficult to deal with. It ‘s
sometimes impossible for an employer to know that he
or she has hired a dishonest employers will conduct
background checks on all prospective employees. This
helps eliminate some potential criminals, but not all of
them. Fraud and theft maybe committed by those with
no criminal records. Security networks, such as CCTV,
may be helpful in this situation. CCTV is a network that
can monitor every part of a business’ property. If
security is a major concern, security guards can be
installed to monitor footage at all hours.
