CHAPTER 2: INTRODUCTION OF THE INTERNSHIP PROCESS
2.1. The internship process
My internship will take place throughout the semester. At PTI  Group Joint Stock
Company, I work as a Marketing intern. I had my ideas for achieving good outcomes
for it, and I considered what I needed to do to increase my knowledge and abilities in a
professional working environment. On 18th December 2022, I began the abovementioned employment and completed my 4-week general internship at PTI  Group
Joint Stock Company. I worked from Monday to Saturday and had a weekly day off on
Sunday, specifically in the morning from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and afternoon from

I learned about the workings, organization, and traits of a media corporation
during my internship, among other things. Along with learning a ton of new marketing
information, I also attended organizational skills training. I received training on how to
work, how to connect with coworkers, and constructive criticism when I accomplished
duties, all with the enthusiastic backing of my supervisor. I'm really appreciative. Four

2.2. Challenges and Lessons during the internship process
2.2.1. Challenges
I was sure that after I had received the necessary professional training, I would be
able to perform effectively in the positions I was assigned throughout my studies. The
real working environment, though, perplexes me, and there are times when I'm unsure
of the best way to approach a subject. I realized at that moment that I still had a lot of
issues to solve and that I needed to constantly work on getting better. The following
are a few of the difficulties I ran through while working as a marketing intern.
First and foremost, my writing abilities are not particularly strong. This is a
major difficulty of mine as a content marketing intern. This position's responsibilities

include composing typical SEO articles, attracting consumers' attention to the
company's products and services, and understanding customer insights to produce blog
posts for the appropriate client segmentation. Although I did research about marketing
in college, and online resources, I still couldn't write exactly what my supervisor
needed. There are a few good articles, however, they have not met my expectations.
Second, it is the lack of computer skills. The problem I have is that I don't know
how to use marketing tools effectively. At the company, some tools analyze the data of
customers segmentation who have visited the company website. After knowing this
exact data, I will direct my pots towards that audience to increase the buying products
or services of the company. Since this is my first time, I am familiar with data analysis
tools, so I'm perplexed.
Third, I need to catch up with my KPI because I have a lot of work to accomplish
every day. I occasionally work under a lot of strain and have to stay late to finish my
work because of my lack of knowledge. On the other hand, the assigned task was a

little intimidating for me, but I learnt new things and grew in my experience.
2.2.2. Lessons
First of all, my computer abilities have vastly increased. As mentioned before, I
had difficulty processing client data in the company's analytics tools. Thanks to the
guidance of my colleagues, I learned new things from the analytics tool. And I know
the way to get more traffic for the company's website.
Second, my boss has begun to acknowledge my writing abilities. I made several
errors in the language and vocabulary of the usual SEO post structure as soon as I
9

began working on it. But now I'm able to post. I am appreciative of the supervisor's
strictness since it pushes me to become a better marketer.
Third, I've learned how to better manage my time. Because of my enormous job,
I need to know how to set up a suitable timetable that allows me to combine work and

personal life. I can successfully finish the specified task and meet the company's KPI
thanks to that efficient preparation.
Following that, I had several workshops and training sessions on soft skills like
communication, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving. I was able
to apply the sharing in reality; I now know how to maintain excellent relationships
with coworkers and superiors, and I figure out good solutions for the department
where I work.
Finally, I discovered the importance of being proactive throughout my internship.
This is crucial for every intern. The manager would be happy to share her experiences
if you take the effort to learn and do so with a positive outlook. I feel that before
asking for help, I should look for the information I already have in order to prevent
asking redundant questions. As I learn more about the subject and have a better
understanding of it, the questions get more in-depth, which gives the supervisor the
idea that you done your homework before asking.
The above is all that I have observed, experienced, and learned during my
internship. This is a good opportunity for me to know more about the company, my
colleagues have let me know about a positive and enthusiastic working environment.
Besides, through the practice process, I know more about the things I'm lacking to
improve myself day by day. It helps me develop more on my career path after
graduation

10

CHAPTER 3: THE CIRCUMSTANCE OF USING ENGLISH AT THE
INTERNSHIP COMPANY.
3.1. The situation of using English
The PIT Group Joint Stock Company belongs to the multimedia industry, not
only targeting domestic customers but also expanding internationally. In general, the
company has a dynamic working environment, everyone can use English correctly.

This is a fantastic chance for English majors to put what I've studied into practice and
to assist me to enhance my abilities to do so.
At work, the company often communicates with foreign customers, so it requires
cooperation and understanding of the other's wishes. English, therefore, is an essential
tool for both parties to come to a mutually beneficial agreement. Employees are
frequently tasked with writing brief emails concerning business communication such
as Customers should be informed of the locations for their company's events, press
conferences, and seminars. Or the English-language promotional video's content
material.
Employees who read must be able to comprehend each product's main ideas and
spot grammatical, spelling, and other mistakes. Staff must also remove or rephrase the
coincidental statement in the product description in order to provide professional
writing. As a result, writing skills such as sentence structure, grammar, and meaning
are constantly practiced. When dealing with product issues and needing to get in touch
with customers, staff members will occasionally send them a letter or message asking
for further information. Employee writing skills in general and mailing skills in
particular are improved as a result.
In the company, people communicate in many ways to discuss and support each
other at work. Colleagues in the company often communicate via text messages,
emails, meetings, and other means to ensure that no critical information is missed. In
my marketing department, my supervisor will often email all workers to assign work,
she sends messages in English freestyle and is quite friendly and polite tone. The
assignment includes writing the standard SEO posts; translating marketing-related
papers; designing banners for promotion campaigns. In addition, whenever we have
free time, our department organizes debate contests in English. This aids in the
11

formation of bonds between individuals and also creates favorable conditions for
everyone to show their English ability.

The limitation
Aside from the positive aspects, the usage of English in the Company still has
several drawbacks.
First, not everyone's speaking abilities are consistent. This is one of the most
important abilities for an employee to have since it allows them to speak effectively
with international consumers. Some departments, such as marketing and customer
service, have worked with overseas partners and have excellent English. However,
their communication abilities are poor in departments like accountancy or product
research and development. Part of the explanation is that they mostly deal with
Vietnamese paperwork, with a few exceptions when they employ English. For
example, the accounting department may need to handle a foreign customer's spending
in a short period of time, which might be difficult for the accounting staff while
examining invoices and interpreting other information in English at the same time. As
a result, it may cause international customers to lose sympathy.
Second, staff has many limitations in translating text. After having a complete
Vietnamese document, the staff will be responsible for translating it into English. This
helps content about products and services reach foreign customers, increasing
purchases. For the marketing department, everyone is very good at writing articles.
However, when switching to English form, people often make pretty basic mistakes
that they normally don't notice such as spelling, grammar, and so on. The wording is
sometimes not clear, causing the reader to misunderstand the message to be conveyed.
For example, in one case, when writing an appointment letter with a customer, the
employee only wrote "tomorrow at 8 o'clock", writing information like this makes the
customer not know the exact time of the appointment. The correct form can be written
as "I'll see you at 8 am tomorrow", just adding a few specific information can help
make the sentence clearer.
Third, PTI Group Joint Stock Firm is a multimedia company that caters to both
local and foreign clients. As a result, developing a website with a language conversion
capability will enable the organization to expand in the foreign market. However, the
corporate website only offers one platform in Vietnamese. This makes it tough for

12

overseas clients interested in learning more about the organization to do so.
3.2. Recommend methods to improve English capacity
Through observation during the internship, I noticed that PTI Group Joint Stock
Company encountered a constraint in its capacity to utilize English at work, as well as
in the company culture. Here are some recommendations from my point for helping
the firm improve and flourish further.
For the company
The guideline requires standard English input. This is a way to help the company
control the quality of qualified employees from the recruitment step. The positions that
are important and require a good skill level should have appropriate recruitment
requirements. These requirements can be interviewing candidates in English or testing
their proficiency with quick tests.
Regularly conduct English proficiency tests. I discovered that English is
frequently utilized at the firm while producing articles, implying that employees'
listening and speaking abilities are still restricted. As a result, the organization should
conduct monthly or annual testing to identify and address flaws.
Create an environment to practice English. The person's ability to utilize English
will be limited if they are not in an English-speaking setting. Therefore, the
organization must establish rules like having three days a week where all
communication is conducted in English. This promotes a multilingual atmosphere as
well as a conducive one for employees to enhance their English abilities.
For employees
Improve writing skills. Business writing is used in the workplace to communicate
with coworkers and clients. It provides a means of sharing information through text
rather than speech. This makes writing skills an essential component to many jobs that
require clear, concise, and effective messaging. Employees must enhance their writing
skills in order to increase productivity. There are numerous ways to practice, such as

writing on a regular basis, identifying the article's strengths and faults, and coming up
with a solution. To boost your comprehension and knowledge, read articles about your
sector.
Enhance the translation skill. Because the company regularly works with foreign
customers in English, translation skills are quite important. Although comprehending
13

the content of the product description indirectly uses translation, it is still vital to
practice this ability on a regular basis. To do this, we must expand our vocabulary as
well as practice translating frequently in order to make the translation simpler.
Actively acquire necessary English skills at work. Employees will truly
understand how to enhance their English if they see the value of doing so. This helps
them to use English more professionally, not only that, they may even improve their
work performance. The advantages of learning English are apparent; individuals who
have a feeling of self-study and self-improvement will provide value to themselves as
well as the company's success.

CHAPTER 4: PROPOSAL OF THE GRADUATION THESIS TOPIC
“A study on difficulties in translating Economic Materials from English to
Vietnamese of English-majored juniors at Thuong Mai University”
Economic development is one of the elements used to assess a country. It shows
the power and status of that country in the world. Economic development is the main
concern in all countries including Vietnam. Therefore, in order to develop a
sustainable economy, each individual must cultivate and equip with economic
knowledge to develop society. Nowadays, it is clear that universities place a strong
emphasis on economic majors, providing students with a solid foundation in

economics.
Students at universities in the age of modern technology have a wealth of
resources available to them online. However, there are certain English papers that
students do not know how to translate correctly, which hinders their ability to obtain
specialized economic information. For this reason, I would like to propose the research
subject for my graduate thesis: “A study on difficulties in translating Economic
Materials from English to Vietnamese of English-majored juniors at Thuong Mai
University”
I sincerely hope that the teachers will consider and support me in the process of
researching this thesis
