Tag questions (Câu hỏi đuôi) (phải không?)
1. Câu hỏi đuôi gồm hai phần: Câu nói (statement) + Phần
đuôi (tag)
Eg: You study here, dont you?

2. General rules (quy tắc chung):
a. Câu nói và phần đuôi luôn luôn ở dạng nghĩa đối nhau:
Affirmative

Ghi nhí:
- Khi trong c©u nãi cã tõ phủ định nh: seldom, rarely, hardly, no,
without, never phần đuôi phải ở dạng khẳng định.
Eg:

He seldom goes to the movies, does he?

b. Verb of the tag. (Động từ của phần đuôi)
- Nếu động từ đợc sử dụng trong mệnh đề chính là động từ
Tobe hoặc động từ khuyết thiếu, thì động từ Tobe hoặc
động từ khuyết thiếu sẽ đợc sử dụng lại lần nữa ở câu hỏi đuôi

, nhng phải ở dạng trái ngợc với dạng thức đợc sử dụng ë mƯnh
®Ị chÝnh.
Eg:

They won’t answer the questions, will they?
Helen can speak English very well, can’t she?
My mother is very beautiful, isnt she?

- Nếu động từ đợc sử dụng trong mệnh đề chính là động từ
thờng, ta phải sử dụng động từ to do nhng phải cùng ngôi và
số, cùng thì với đại từ đứng sau nó.


Eg:

Hoa makes the questions, doesn’t she?
Nam didn’t agree with you, did he?
My father went to the cinema, didn’t he?

c. Chñ ngữ trong câu hỏi đuôi phải bằng với chủ ngữ trong
mệnh đề chính, nhng chủ ngữ phải là chủ ngữ rót gän cđa nã.
Eg:

My younger sister has bought a new school bag, hasnt she?

3. Special cases ( Trờng hợp đặc biệt):
a. Phần đuôi của I am là Arent I ” .
Eg:

I’m going to do it again, aren’t I?

b. Imperatives and Requests ( Câu mệnh lệnh và câu yêu
cầu):
. Imperatives:
+, Có phần đuôi là wont you? và diễn tả lêi mêi:
Eg:

Take your seat, won’t you? (Mêi «ng ngåi)

+, Cã phần đuôi là will you? và diễn tả lời yêu cầu .
Eg:

Open the door, will you? ( Xin vui lòng mở cửa)

. Requests
Eg:

Please keep silient, will you? (Vui lòng giữ im lỈng)

Please don’t make noise, will you? ( Xin vui lòng đừng làm ồn)
c. Phần đuôi của câu với Let’s + V ...” : lµ “Shall we ?”
Eg:

Let’s go swimming, shall we? (Chúng ta đi bơi nhé)

a. Nothing, đợc thay là thế bằng It ở câu hỏi đuôi:
Eg : Nothing gives you more pleasure than listening to music,
does it ?

b. Noone, Nobody, anyone, anybody, someone, somebody,
everybody, everyone đợc thay thế bằng They trong câu
hỏi đuôi.

Lu ý :

Someone remembered to leave the messages, didn’t they?


Nothing, Nobody đợc dùng trong mệnh đề chính, động từ ở
câu hỏi đuôi sẽ phải ở dạng thức xác định. (Vì Nothing và
Nobody có nghĩa phủ định)
Eg:

Nobody phoned while I was out, did they?

c. This/ That đợc thay thế là It.
Eg:

This wont take long, will it?

d. These/ Those đợc thay thÕ lµ “They”.
Eg:

Those are nice, aren’t they?
