FIBRE OPTIC INTERCONNECTING DEVICES AND
PASSIVE COMPONENTS PERFORMANCE STANDARD –
Part 084-2: Non connectorised single-mode 980/1550 nm
WWDM devices for category C –
Controlled environment

1 Scope
This part of IEC 61753 contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and
severities which a fibre optic pigtailed 980/1 550 nm WWDM device must satisfy in order to be
categorized as meeting the requirements of category C (controlled environments), as defined
in Annex A of IEC 61753-1. The requirements cover devices with single-mode non-connectorised pigtails.
This device has three ports; 980 nm input, 1 550 nm input and common port for output of
combining 980/1 550 nm input light.

5 Test procedure
All test methods are in accordance with the relevant part of IEC 61300 series (see Table 1).
The samples shall be terminated onto single-mode fibres as per IEC 60793-2-50. All tests
shall be carried out over the optical wavelength 960 nm to 1 000 nm and 1510 nm to 1580 nm,
unless otherwise stated.

6 Test report
Fully documented test reports and supporting evidence shall be prepared and be available for
inspection as evidence that the tests have been carried out and complied with. The tests can
be carried out separately.
