This part 2 is to be used in conj unction with the latest edition of I EC 60335-1 and its
amendments. I t was established on the basis of the fifth edition (201 0) of that standard.
NOTE 1 When “Part 1 ” is m entioned in this standard, it refers to I EC 60335-1 .
This part 2 supplem ents or m odifies the corresponding clauses in I EC 60335-1 , so as to
convert that publication into the I EC standard: Safety requirem ents for electric ondol mattress
with a non-flexible heated part.
When a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in this part 2, that subclause applies
as far as is reasonable. When this standard states "addition", "modification" or "replacement",
the relevant text in Part 1 is to be adapted accordingl y.

INTRODUCTION
I t has been assumed in th e drafting of this I nternational Standard that the execution of its
provisions is entrusted to appropriatel y qualified and experienced persons.
This standard recognizes the internationally accepted level of protection against hazards such
as electrical, m echanical, thermal, fire and radiation of appliances when operated as in
norm al use taking into account the m anufacturer's instructions. I t also covers abnormal
situations that can be expected in practice and takes into account the way in which
electrom agnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of appliances.
This standard takes into account the requirem ents of I EC 60364 as far as possible so that
there is compatibility with the wiring rules when the appliance is connected to the suppl y
mains. H owever, national wiring rules m ay differ.
I f an appliance within the scope of this standard also incorporates functions that are covered
by another part 2 of I EC 60335, the relevant part 2 is applied to each function separatel y, as
far as is reasonable. I f applicable, the influence of one function on the other is taken into
account.
When a part 2 standard does not include additional requirem ents to cover hazards dealt with
in Part 1 , Part 1 applies.
NOTE 1 This m eans that th e technical com m ittees responsi ble for the part 2 stan dards have d eterm ined th at it is
not necessary to specify particular requi rem ents for th e appl iance in q uestion over and above th e g eneral
requirem ents.
This standard is a product fam ily standard dealing with the safety of appliances and takes
precedence over horizontal and generic standards covering the sam e subject.
NOTE 2 H ori zontal and g en eric standards coveri ng a h azard are not applicable since th ey have been taken into
consideration wh en devel opi ng the general an d particular req uirem ents for the I EC 60335 seri es of standards. For
exam ple, i n the case of tem perature requi rem ents for su rfaces on m any appli ances, g en eric stan dards, such as
I SO 1 3732-1 for hot surfaces, are not applicable i n ad dition to Part 1 or part 2 stan dards.
An appliance that com plies with the text of this standard will not necessaril y be considered to
com pl y with the safety principles of the standard if, when examined and tested, it is found to
have other features that im pair the level of safety covered by these requi rements.
An appliance employing materials or having forms of construction differing from those detailed
in the requirements of this standard may be exam ined and tested according to the intent of
the requirem ents and, if found to be substantially equivalent, m ay be considered to com pl y
with the standard.

appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. H owever, in general,
it does not take into account
