1. The first day at school probably had been much impressed on your life.
Hi all Friends
My first day at school is a day I will never forget. I went to school for the first time when I
was only seven years old but I can recollect all the happenings on that day. The day before my
school opened, my father asked me to keep my books ready.
The next morning, I woke up very early. Then I bathed and dressed myself neatly. Then
my father took me to school. In the school I saw a number of new boys and girls waiting in the
corridor. They were all like me in the school for the first time. I was then taken to a classroom.
For sometime, I found myself helpless, but it did not take much time for me to be friendly
with other students. After two periods, they began to tease me, I was much annoyed. During the
recess time, all my classmates gathered around me. One pulled my shirt while another pulled
my ear. A third boy challenged for a fight. I was frightened and began to cry. Myteacher seeing
me crying came to me and asked me why I was crying. When I told him my “story”, the teacher
punished the boys, and from that time onwards they stopped bullying me. We had no lessons
on the first day. But lessons started from the second day. I was really happy to be in school on
the first day. It was indeed a memorable day.
2. Your favourite hobby and why you enjoy it
Watching television is one of the activities I like to do in my spare time. I enjoy watching
cartoons on Saturday mornings and sports programs on Sunday afternoons. I also watch
television during the week after I have finished all my school work. At night, I especially like
to watch movies and situation comedies. If I have a lot of homework, I try to arrange my
schedule so that I can watch at least one of my favorite shows. Watching television is not the
only activity that I do in my spare time. My other favorite activities are making paper flowers
and going shopping with my friends. However, when I have spare time, I spend more time
watching television than any other activities. Watching television can help me not only relax
but also build me a huge knowledge of the open world
3. How to be happier
Like other people, I always long to be happy, but I know it very difficult to get it
because we are living in the modern society. To be happy, what should we do?
First, I think we want to have good health. With good health, we can do everything to serve
ourselves in daily life. Moreover, we can help others such as disabled children, old

people…from spirit to material.
Second, we should have a stable and appropriate job. With good job. We are able to support
our family in finance. We help poor and unhappy. People which may take them out of
poverty a little. This make us feel happy.
Third, we should get true friendship to share and help with each other. We are always open
and friendly with everybody. This also help us be happy. Besides, sometimes we should
travel with family or friend to relax after class, we will feel self confident and positive in
life.
In short, the life will become valuable if you feel happy.
4. Describe your best friend and tell why you like him/her
In our daily activities we often get in touch with the others and from these relations we
meet some people whose interests, characteristics and behaviors are similar to ours and
we choose them as our friends.
To me, one of my best friends is Nam. Nam is only over eighteen but he is well
developed; so he is thought to be twenty or more. He has black hair, a broad forehead, a
straight nose and bright eyes. He is very good-looking. He has a kind heart and is easy to
get on with everybody. We have been friends for a very long time. The deeper our
mutual understanding becomes the more we feel closely attached to each other. “Birds
of a feather flock together”, Nam and I are keen on learning. We are the best pupils in
our class. Nam is always at the top. He is good at every subject, but he never shows
pride in his abilities and always tries to learn harder.
Nam’s family is not rich enough. His parents are retired workers. Realizing the
hardships of his parents, although he is absorbed in his study, he often spends most of
his spare time doing useful things to help his parents in their old age. He gets up early in
the morning to have enough time to deliver newspapers to subscribers before going to
school. After school in the afternoon, he repairs bicycles and motorbikes. Therefore the
money he gets from his manual job is sufficient for his school fees and for his parents’
presents. I like Nam very much because of his honesty and straight forwardness. He is
always ready to help his weak friends in their study; as a result, lots of friends, thanks to
his whole-hearted help, have become good ones.

In my relation with Nam, I have got precious experience: thirst for learning, patience
to overcome difficulties, helpfulness and filial piety.

Vietnam. The winter is not too cold so there isn't snow in the winter in Vietnam. However,

cycling to work?
In my opinion, in the future, bicycle will be unpopular. Because with development of society,
time becomes more valuable, people will choose modern kinds of transport to save their time
such as airplane, underground, cars and train which are convenient and more faster than bicycle
resulting in saving time to do other works. At this time, bicycle will become out of use.
However, it cannot be denied that cycling to work has many benefits.
Firstly, by cycling you can live longer. Those who exercise regularly are at significantly lower

risk of cardiovascular disease, type two diabetes, all types of cancer, high blood pressure and
obesity. The body becomes much more efficient at defending itself and regenerating new cells
Saving the planet is the second benefit of cycling.
Twenty bicycles can be parked in the same space as one car. It takes around five percent of the
materials and energy used to make a car to build a bike, and a bike produces zero pollution.
Another benefit of cycling is to heal your heart Studies from Purdue University in the US have
shown that regular cycling can cut your risk of heart disease by 50 percent. And according to
the British Heart Foundation, around 10,000 fatal heart attacks could be avoided each year if

movement on a plane as you do on a train.

17. Which seasons do you like best in a year? Which activities can you take part in the
season?
I like autumn best because of the following reasons:
During autumn, which lasts more or less from late July to early October, it is sunny most of the
time. The Autumnal sun is often splendid, dying nature yellow. The weather is also ideal
because it is not too cold or too hot. Then the coldish northwesterly wind, which blows gently,
thrills everyone with the breath of autumn. The leaves of the trees turning yellow or red put a
gorgeous coat of colors on nature. Autumn is such a wonderful season that many poems and
songs have been composed to sing the praises of the season. Autumn is also a season which
reminds me of my first day at school, when my mother took me by the hand and led me to
school for the first time. Last but not least, autumn is the time when I can enjoy my favorite
fruit and dish which are the Japanese persimmons and the green rice flakes. These are found
only in autumn. In this season, you can take part in many activities like playing sports, go
camping or traveling with your friends and family. It’s believed that, in autumn, the weather is
very comfortable and relevant with journeys. You can play many kinds of sports such as
swimming, football, climbing to cultivate your health and make your life healthier.
18. More should be done to protect the natural features, such as lakes and rivers, of the
world. How far do you agree with statement?
Conservation concerns men’s safeguarding and preservation of natural resources and his
responsibility for improving the environmental conditions in which he lives. An important task
of conservation is the prevention of waste – waste of forests, soil, minerals, wildlife and human
life.

Trees help to preserve land because their roots bind the soil and retainwater. Without trees,
heavy rains will cause soil erosion and the remaining land becomes poor and worthless.
Terrible floods often occur in the areas where trees are cut down in great quantity. Forest
conservation also means the prevention of bush fires and the attention to planting and looking
after new, young trees.
Not only should man preserve forests but he should also realize the importance of wildlife
protection. Unless governments have a good system of control or pass laws restricting the
hunting, fishing and eradicating of rare animals and plants, they slowly disappear.
Natural resources such as coal, gas and mineral ores are limited but the need for them is
growing day by day. As they may not last for a century, man should use them widely on the
one hand, and look for alternative fuels on the other hand.
Another serious problem threatening human life is the dirtying and poisoning of air and water.
This pollution is mainly caused by the fumes, chemicals and wastes from automobiles,
industries and homes.
It is hoped that for his own benefit, man can soon find a solution to these problems.
20. How would you compare your living standards to those of your grandparents?
When I was a child, my grandparents had gone to the heaven. I don't remember much
about them and their living standards. At that time, more than 60 years ago, so I can guess how
did they live.
About 60 years ago, my grandparents was living with a war, they had to fight to live.
They did not care about money, just focused to Independence and Freedom.
They loved our country more than themselves, they could die for big ideal for Independence,
for Freedom.
Now almost people in my generation, just think of themselves, and live without ideal.
About 60 years ago most of them used to go on foot or by bicycle to visit their friends,
now I use my motor-bike or car. They also didn't know about mobile phone, now we can talk
with our friend anywhere by mobile phone.
At their time, they used to listen to Vietnamese music with a old radio, they may did not know
how crazy fan is?
Now I usually listen to music by my laptop via Internet connection with any kind of music on

the world.
There was no Internet connection in their life time, they didn't know how to connect with
people all over the world.
Now we have a big social network and it is very interesting.
There are too much different things!!!
