● the delimitation according to the question,
● the presentation of the problem,
● the derivation of the objective.
The introduction covers the following points:
● Introduction of the topic, classification of the topic in the overarching topic complex, brief description
of the current study situation and any gaps in research (approx. 1-2 pages)
● Transition to the question and objective of the work (including the specific hypotheses where
applicable)
● possibly background on the topic, if necessary, but no detailed description of textbook knowledge
(agreement with supervisor required)
objective
● Description of the research goal → What would you like to investigate or achieve with the work?
● The objective can appear as a subchapter/at the end of the introduction or be integrated into the
work as a separate chapter.
Methods
The Methods chapter includes information on:
● Databases used for literature research
● the research period
● the keywords or keyword combinations used with the respective hit rate
● Criteria for the selection of the publications used, which must be tailored to the objective of the work
The part is supplemented by a description of how many studies were not included in the work, or how
many were used/selected and discussed. This is made very transparent by an additional graphical
representation as a PRISMA flow diagram. The template is available at:
