Key English Test (KET)

Cambridge English: Key (KET), the first-level Cambridge English
exam (at Level A2 of the Council of Europe's Common European

measure your progress and build your confidence in English and
then progress towards the Preliminary English Test (PET) and the
rest of the Cambridge English examinations.
The test proves you can cope with spoken and written English at a
basic level. It covers all four language skills, reading, writing,
listening and speaking.
Cambridge English: Key (KET) is a valuable qualification recognised

by many universities and employers all over the world.

nearby waters fishing for food.

0

When it gets really cold in the worst part of winter, Emperor penguins join together in large groups.
The members of each group stand close together warming each other with their body heat and take it in turns to stand at
the outside of the group, where it is coldest.
28

Most birds breed in springtime, but the Emperors have their babies during the winter months. They keep their large eggs
warm by placing them under their belly. The male looks after the egg for 65 days during winter while the female is out at
sea fishing. This whole time, the male does without food.
After about two months, the females come back. By then, their baby chicks have hatched and they can feed them with
food they collected on their fishing trip. Now it's time for the male to go out to sea to fish - and it's the mother's turn to
look after the new baby!

an adult, it

could be three times that size. But many baby Great Whites do not live through their first year. They are killed by
bigger sharks as well as other dangerous sea creatures.

Young Great Whites eat fish mostly, but as they get older they prefer to hunt bigger animals like seals and sea lions.

ver

They hunt using the element of surprise, which means they have to hide from the animal they are hunting until the
moment when they attack. If a Great White catches a seal, it won't need a big meal again for another whole month.

Shark attacks on humans are uncommon, but they do happen. The most dangerous shark species for humans are
Tiger, Bull and Great Whites. A shark will not often hunt a human on purpose; most shark attacks happen by mistake,
Surfers are sometimes mistaken for seals because of the way their surfboards look under the water. This is why they
are often the victims of shark attacks.

Part 1 - Exam Tips

You should make sure you know what is going to happen in the speaking exam before you
go in to take your test.
After the first examiner has said hello to you, he/she will begin the test by asking you some
questions about your name, where you come from and your school subjects etc
There will be two examiners in the room, but only one will speak to you and ask you
questions. The second examiner will fill in your mark sheet.
The first examiner will then ask you some questions about your daily life, your interests
and your hobbies.
At the end of Part 1, the first examiner will ask you about one other thing, for example:
