- Uncountable nouns are nouns we
cannot count. They usually have
singular forms, e.g. some milk – NOT:

milks. These nouns include: food
(cheese, meat, flour, sugar, salt, etc.),
liquid (coffee, tea, water, etc.)
Answer key
We use a/an with a countable noun in
the singular. We use some with
countable nouns in the plural and
uncountable nouns in affirmative
sentences and interrogative sentences
requesting or offering. We use any with
countable nouns in the plural and
uncountable nouns in negative and
interrogative sentences.
Grammar:
- Countable nouns are nouns that we can
count and they have a singular and a
plural form (an/one apple – two/some
apples). We can use a/an or some with
countable nouns.
- Uncountable nouns are nouns that we
cannot count and they only have one
form (water, milk, tea, etc.). We cannot
use a/an with uncountable nouns, but we
can use some.
