Teenage Pregnancy
Every child dreams that they will have a happy family with both of dad and mom. But
these dreams are really difficult to become true if they were born by teen mom.
Teenage pregnancy is a socially, economically, physically and emotionally complex
issue.This is not a new topic but we still don’t have any solutions to stop completely.
Today I will present about this issue and suggest some way to prevent.
At first we need to understand what teenage pregnancy is. According to wikipedia,
teenage pregnancy is defined as pregnancy that occurs in women below the age of 20.
Have you ever imagine that can you take care of a child when you are still a school
girl? It’s totally not. You’re also a child, need the care from your parents so you can’t
become a mother when you are not mature. StayTeen.org reports that :
- About 16.4% teen pregnancies happen each year.
- 80% of these teen pregnancies are accidental.
- 50% of the pregnancies end up in abortion.
- About 16 million teenage girls become mothers every year.
Besides, You can see this graph on the slide. From these statistic and graph, you can
understand about how this issue serous and need to alarm about the lifestyle of the youth
nowaday. So what are the r reasons? There are plenty of the reason but I just show some
main reasons in the slide.
- Lack of awareness about safe sex.
- Teens are not taught about the birth patrol.
- Lack of guidance of school and family.
 - Low life condition.
In addition to, teens always watch many sexual videos on TV or Internet, it makes
them currious about the sex and want to try. Moreover, they are in puberty, the
psychological need is really strong and difficult to control their behaviors.
Then, the consequences of teenage pregnancy are relly serious. At first, impact of
teenage pregnancy on the mother.
- Increase risk of miscarriage.
- High prenatal mortality.
- Drop out of school.

- Hard to find a job in the future.
Not only harm to the mother but also to the child.
- Developmental disabilities.
- Increase miscarriage.
- Can’t support a best care for the child.
- Easy to be abandoned.
Eventully, teenage pregnancy has bad effects to the society.
- Living in poverty.
- Increasing crime as well as prison costs.
- Bad morality in the youth.
- Abortion.
And now we need to find ways to prevent this problem. It’s not easy but still have
solutions and need the combination from school, family and society.
 From the school:
- Teach “Sex education” in public school.
- Support information and help teens understand about “Safe Sex”.
- Teachers and students shouldn’t be shame when talking this issue.
 From the family.
- Parents should have the “sex” talk to their children.
- Explain about the consequence of teen pregnancy.
- Parents shouldn’t force their daughter aborted or abo if she is pregnant.
 From the society:
- We need the communication for teens understand the consequences of teenage
pregnancy.
- Prohibit showing sexual videos film on the TV.
- Teach teens how to take care a child and know how hard to do it.
These are some my suggestions, and I believe that one day, we can prevent teenage
pregnany and no child have to suffer the pain of breakup family or abandoned.
To myself, I’m 19 years old and I learn many ways to keep myself stay away from
sex and how to protect myself. And I know that I just become a good mother when I

gradute university, get a good job and married. At that time, I am enough mature to
give my children a good future.
