I. The past continuous ( thì quá khứ tiếp diễn)

1. Cấu trúc của thì quá khứ tiếp diễn

Thể khẳng định (+) Cấu trúc Ví dụ

Thể phủ định (-) S + was/were + not + V-ing yesterday.

2. Cách dùng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn
- Dùng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn để diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm xác định trong quá
khứ.
VÍ DỤ:

- Dùng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn tả một hành động đang xảy ra thì một hành động khác xen vào.
VÍ DỤ:

- Dùng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn để diễn tả hai hành động đồng thời xảy ra tại một thời điểm trong quá khứ.
VÍ DỤ:

- Dùng thì q khứ tiếp diễn để diễn tả hành động lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ và làm phiền đến người

3. Dấu hiệu nhận biết thì q khứ tiếp diễn
Trong câu dùng thì quá khứ tiếp diễn thường có các từ và cụm từ sau:
at + giờ + thời gian trong quá khứ (at 10:00 p.m last night)
at this time + thời gian trong quá khứ (at this time yesterday)
at that time (vào thời điểm đó)
while (trong khi)
when (khi)
VÍ DỤ:
I was playing chess with Tom at this time yesterday.
(Vào giờ này hôm qua tôi đang chơi cờ với Tom.)
C. PHONICS:

- Stress in words ending in -al and -ous (trọng âm của các từ chứa đuôi –al và -ous)
