People's lives in the modern era are continuously strained by responsibility to their jobs, education, and other pursuits. To prevent stress and tiredness, people must occasionally take time to rest and recharge their energy. While many choose far-off vacations, staycations have gained popularity recently because they are less expensive and more convenient. A "staycation" is a combination of "stay" and "vacation," meaning that you stay put rather than going far from home.

Typically, everyone thinks of holidays as lengthy trips. Additionally, a staycation is a brief visit to a nearby, well-known location even your own house. For those who are unfamiliar with staycations, the best way to describe them is as on-site travel that allows you to have new experiences.

In today's fast-paced world, taking a break doesn't always mean hopping on a plane or embarking on a long road trip. Instead, it's about embracing the beauty of your surroundings, discovering hidden gems in your local area, and indulging in moments of tranquility without the stress of travel logistics.

This post will discuss the advantages of staycations, the reasons they are so well-liked right now, and some of their drawbacks. With any luck, this post will provide the reader with outline of this exciting new travel trend.

1. The overview and current situation of Staycations:

Staycation is combined by two words "stay" and "vacation". Staycation can be understood as a concept of on-site tourism trends. You won't have to spend a lot of time moving and arranging but you will still have a great space for relaxation and entertainment.

Why and when this trend is formed? Staycation originated in 2008 - a time of severe economic crisis in the US. At this time, households are forced to tighten spending. One of the ways to apply is to choose local travel instead of expensive long-distance trips. They started looking for suggestions for staycation locations near home.

Trang 5

Staycation has been around for a long time, but why has it only now become famous and become a trend? That is because of the situation of not being able to move and travel freely since the emergence of Covid-19. At that time, the demand for backpacking continued to increase and people's frustration at having to stay at home so much caused pressure to relieve. Therefore, Staycation emerged again as a "save" for this situation. Moreover, this trend is suitable for those who prefer quiet, avoid crowds and save costs.

Travel and hotel companies have shifted their focus to the local staycation market instead of international visitors. They launch many attractive promotional packages specifically for staycation guests.

Governments also encourage and support staycations to stimulate domestic tourism demand, helping tourism businesses recover after the pandemic. Preferential policies such as vouchers and tax reductions are applied.

Technology plays an important role in staycations by providing online booking platforms, electronic payments, as well as at-home entertainment activities.

The future trend is to combine staycation with local cultural and culinary activities to create a more diverse and unique experience for visitors.

2. The benefits of Staycations: 2.1. Cost-effective

Think about your average vacation budget and how much you spend on flights and baggage fees. With a staycation, you skip most of the transportation costs, which allows you to stretch your travel budget even further. Put that extra money toward an upgraded hotel room, a nice spa treatment or possibly an additional staycation later in the year. If weather isn’t an issue, plan your staycation for an off-season when hotel rates are lower.

2.2. Less stressful

Trang 6

Packing, transportation delays, and strange surroundings can all contribute to the stress of travel. Staycations reduce many of these concerns, allowing individuals to unwind and enjoy their vacations without the inconvenience of extensive trips.

2.3. Exploration of local attractions

Staycations encourage people to discover and appreciate the attractions and amenities in their neighborhoods or surrounding locations. This can result in a higher appreciation for one's surroundings and the uncovering of hidden treasures that would otherwise go unnoticed.

2.4. Supporting the local economy

When people choose to stay local, they can help local establishments including eateries, retail stores, and entertainment centers. This could support the community's vitality and economic development.

2.5. Flexibility and freedom

Staycations allow for more flexibility in terms of schedule and activities. There are no trip timetables to follow, so people may plan their days around their preferences and hobbies, whether it's touring surrounding parks, trying out new eateries, or simply resting at home.

2.6. Reduced Environmental Impact:

Staycations lower transportation-related carbon emissions by avoiding long-distance travel. This eco-friendly strategy supports efforts to mitigate climate change and is in line with sustainability objectives.

2.7. Quality Time with Family and Friends:

Staycations offer a chance to spend valuable time together with loved ones. Enjoying each other's company at home or participating in enjoyable activities together, staycations can improve relationships and leave enduring memories.

2.8. You Have an Excuse to Check Out New Places

You can explore new destinations that you've always wanted to visit when you take staycations. Staycations give you a reason to spend a little bit more than usual, whether it's at a restaurant that's a little more expensive than you'd typically opt for or an exhibit at a museum that seems like too much of a splurge.

2.9. You Can Focus On Yourself

Putting off writing that new song? Have you read the new book? Attend that culinary class? You can now, though. Staycations allow you to prioritize your hobbies and long-awaited plans while taking some time for yourself. Furthermore, all you have to do is get started; there's no need to wait on anyone.

2.10. No Pets Left Behind

Staycations are a convenient delight, regardless of whether you're a father raising ten pups or a mother raising three cats. You worry less about your pet friends' welfare when you take staycations. They can also travel with you wherever you go.

3. The drawbacks of Staycations:

3.1. Boredom

Staying home for a vacation can get boring after a while, especially if you end up just doing your normal routine. Without new sights and experiences, a staycation may not feel like much of a break.

3.2.Distractions

When you're at home, it can be hard to fully relax and detach from work and chores. You may end up doing housework or getting sucked into work emails even during your time off. Because of staying at the same place, you will remember and remind yourself about the things that you did in your daily life.

Trang 8

3.3. Lack of adventure

Part of the fun of vacations is experiencing new places and trying new things. However, with a staycation, you just stay at your house and do the things that you can do on any weekend. Therefore, you miss out on that sense of adventure and discovery.

3.4. Limited options

Only so many local attractions and leisure activities are available close to home. As a local, you must have visited those attractions at least once before. So revisiting the same places multiple times is not a great idea. The variety of experiences may be narrower than if you traveled somewhere new.

3.5. Staying home isn't special

Vacations are often seen as a time to treat yourself. Staying home and doing your regular routine isn't as novel or luxurious. Some people usually spend a lot of money when they travel but if they stay at home, it’s hard to spend a lot of money on some activities as daily life.

III.Conclusion:

Through this journey, you will discover the benefits and meaningful experiences that a vacation brings. You will find that a vacation at home is not only a way to relax but also an opportunity to enjoy beautiful moments with family and friends, and discover new things in your own city or town. Staying at home can also be an adventure, a journey to regenerate energy and immerse yourself in the peaceful space of home. You will enjoy delicious meals, fun activities, and memorable memories without having to travel far. At the end of this stay, you not only end a vacation but also open a new door of gratitude and enjoyment of the little things around everyday life. Remember, adventure and relaxation are often just a step away. Thank you everyone for participating and please continue to enjoy memorable moments with family and friends.

Although accommodation tourism is a new type in Vietnam, it has become popular in recent years. Therefore, this type of advertising needs to be

easy to understand and accessible to tourists through social networks, images, etc. This type will grow stronger in the future.
