Personal Elementary

PROJECT GUIDELINES

Class: ENCS040026 Level: A2.1 Project 2: ROLE PLAY

Learning Outcomes

The learner is able to …

• articulate information about family members and hobbies using the present simple tense, frequency adverbs, and expressions in the context of planning a family event, • use prepositions of time and daily routine verbs to vividly describe people's daily

• Pronunciation: clear and articulate pronunciation of words; appropriate intonation

and stress to convey meaning effectively (-ing forms; dates; linking consonants and

vowels)

Materials:

• Props or visual aids to enhance the role-play: items related to the activities being

discussed (soccer ball, paintbrush, picnic basket) and images representing the weather or a calendar to emphasize the chosen day.

• Well-organized scripts, with clear dialogues and stage directions (See the sample

script provided as a reference for structure and language use)

• A TV or whiteboard for visualizing information during the reflection session.

Lecturers

1. Divide students into small groups of 4 or 5.

2. Introduce the project theme: planning a "Family Fun Day" event. Specify that each group will choose a specific day for the event.

3. Assign roles to each group member, emphasizing active participation. Ensure a mix of family roles (e.g., Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, and Pet if desired).

4. Instruct each group to create a script for a role-play involving planning the Family Fun Day. Emphasize the use of language elements like present simple, present continuous, prepositions of time and relevant vocabulary (family, hobbies, daily activities, clothes, weather, seasons, etc.)

On Project Day (pls. see Course Outline of ENCS040026 for the Project Day)

• Facilitate a reflection session after all groups have presented.

• Encourage students to discuss what they enjoyed and learned during the project.

Assessment Criteria:

• Creativity and Originality: Evaluate the role-play for imaginative and innovative

elements (the use of props or visual aids).

• Language Use: Assess the effective use of frequency adverbs, present continuous

tense, prepositions of time, and relevant vocabulary.

• Teamwork: Evaluate the level of participation and collaboration among group

members.

Dad (John): Good morning, everyone! I was thinking, why don't we plan a Family Fun Day

this weekend?

Mom (Lisa): That's a fantastic idea, John! What day should we choose? Brother (Tom): How about Sunday? We don't have much going on. Sister (Emma): Yeah, Sunday sounds great. What activities can we do?
