Pagodas are one of Vietnam’s top attractions for travelers. If you want to experience a more traditional side of Vietnam, you must experience the Vietnamese pagodas. They are not just historical monuments of the past:

Vietnamese visit them regularly to receive blessings, to pray or to organize charity events. The best time to visit a pagoda is early morning when it is not too busy. After the night falls, it is also interesting as the lights and candles can create spectacular effects. If you are lucky enough to travel to Vietnam during a special holiday, for instance, Tet, you will notice that pagodas will be more crowded than usual and that they will have more decoration. Don’t forget to dress appropriately during your visit. Common sense prevails: Avoid shorts, bare shoulders, skirts or hats.

There are many famous pagodas across Vietnam from South to North, but today I will introduce for you the one pagoda that impresses with me the most. That is Huong Pagoda. Huong Pagoda complex is a massive cultural-religious work comprising dozens of pagodas, temples, communal houses, and other structures scattered throughout a valley with breathtaking natural scenery. The first works in this Vietnamese pagoda were constructed in the 15th century and was built on a large scale at the end of the 17th century.

Uncle Ho visited this place and advised, "Huong Pagoda is a beautiful place, we must know how to appreciate and preserve it so that our children and grandchildrencan enjoy and love our homeland and country more."

The center of Huong Pagoda is located at Huong Son town, My Duc District, which is about 60 kilometers from Ha Noi and along the right bank of Day River. The heart of this pagoda complex is Huong Pagoda located in Động Hương Tích, which is also known as Trong Pagoda. You can take a boat along the Yen stream from the pagoda's parking lot to Thien Tru pagoda, an important work in this complex.

Thien Tru Pagoda has a large courtyard and layers of old-looking tiles. Following the visit to Thien Tru pagoda, guests can take the cable car to Huong Tich cave, themain place of worship for the Huong pagoda complex. Climb about 120 stone stepsfrom the cave entrance to go deep inside, where there are colorful stalactites,

bronze statues tinged with time, and a bronze bell from 1655.

The main festival of Perfume Pagoda starts from January 6 to February 18 of the lunar calendar. This is also the largest festival in the North gathering 3 main

religions in Vietnam. Besides the pilgrimage ritual and praying for good things for a peaceful and prosperous new year, people coming to the Huong Pagoda festival can also participate in many extremely unique activities: rowing boats, singing adoration songs, singing cheo songs. ,…

If on the occasion of the third lunar month, the rice flower season blooms bright red on both banks of Yen stream, sitting on a boat and enjoying the romantic

beauty is wonderful. You can quickly save check-in photos in this romantic setting. When going to the Huong Pagoda Festival, don't forget to enjoy the specialties here:

Củ Mài: the sweet, cool and cool taste creates the specialty of Củ Mài.

Chè Củ Mài: When your legs are tired from climbing, stop at any restaurant along the way, don't forget to enjoy this dish. The cool taste of sweet soup combined withthe rich taste of thinly sliced root vegetables will dispel all fatigue.

Types of candies made from Củ Mài: Perhaps this is the specialty you encounter the most when traveling to Huong Pagoda. The stalls sell a variety of cakes with many flavors such as: củ mài rau sắng, củ mài mật ong, củ mài khoai môn…Chè Lam: Along with Củ Mài, Chè Lam is an indispensable familiar dish in Huong Son land. The sweet dish is made meticulously from sticky rice, fresh ginger, and cinnamon powder, both sticky and fragrant. Enjoying it with tea is evenmore interesting.

My most interesting experience when coming to Huong Pagoda was walking to Động Hương Tích. Động Hương Tích is more than 2000 meters from Thien Tru Pagoda, with an altitude of 390m. The cave is considered the center of the Huong Pagoda scenic area and is the destination of tourists when coming here. The mobilepath was opened by local people and arranged into very neat stone steps. The path to Buddha's door will not be easy without a sincere heart to overcome difficulties. The cave door is made of green stone. Erected in the year of Dinh Mao (1927), it evokes the solemnity and sacredness of the cave. Going down from the cave

entrance, we have to go through 120 neatly arranged stone steps. On both sides are green forests that make you feel lost in paradise. According to legend, Động

Hương Tích is the mouth of a large dragon. Núi Đun Gạo is the dragon's tongue. The entrance to the cave is located on a high cliff on the left with the words "Nam Thien De Nhat Dong" engraved. Inside the cave there are very unique large and small stalactites. Stalactites were named by ancient people after their natural shape.Stepping on my own, trying to reach the destination of the Pagoda, is truly my most memorable experience. That was my experience when coming to Huong Pagoda. Come and visit Huong Pagoda once.
