Think of a person that you know well. Be sure that you feel comfortablewriting about him or her. Tell a story about this person. What unusual orexciting experience has this person had! How did he or she influence you?(250-300 words)

When I think about this specific subject, the first person that springs to me ismy kindly and elderly next-door neighbor, Mr. Tam. We had been buddies eversince the day he moved into my neighborhood. Despite our obvious big agedifferences, we got along fine when we first met, and I have a lot of respect for himbecause of the many admirable traits he possesses.

The most common misconceptions about elderly men are their propensity forconservatism and traditionalism or their propensity for forgetfulness. Mr. Tamrepresents the exact opposite to me, in my opinion. He strikes me as being verytech knowledgeable, which is also why we clicked straight away when we first met. This is my biggest impression of him. In contrast to many people his age whofrequently have contempt for anything modern, Mr. Tam is not in the least bittechnologically illiterate. On Facebook, he routinely posts lovely pictures of his

grandchildren, and from what I can tell, he likes to reply on people's remarks onhow beautiful and effulgent they are.

Another reason I like this man is because of his sentimentality. In his earlyyears, Mr. Tam served in the military and fought for his country in the VietnamWar. He periodically experiences memories of his time spent in the service. Heonce discussed his friends who died in battle, and I remember him getting a littleemotional. Every time we chat, he urges me and my friends to keep going in life sothat his friends' efforts won't be in vain.

I consider Mr. Tam to be a friend and an inspiration. He has earned myadmiration for his wisdom, kindness, and several wise words. He is a friend, thoughI never imagined I would be so blessed to have one.
