TOPIC: WAYS TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT

2. Introducing the group’s members:

There are 7 members in our group: Nguyen Hoang Dan, Le Cong Anh, Dinh Thi Lan Anh, Tran Thi Cham, Nguyen Linh Chi, Le Manh Cuong, Le Hoang Diep

3. Introducing the group’s topic:

The purpose of our presentation is to help you guys know about “ How can we help to protect the environment”

4. Outlining the presentation:

There are three parts to our presentation. The first part is about the situation of the environment. The second part looks at “The Importance of the environment.”. The third part discusses the effects of Environmental Pollution. Next, Ways to protect the environment, and the last one is Relate yourself to protecting the environment

But before the presentation, I have a question to ask all of you guys: “ Do you think all of us drink fresh water every day? ”

Gazing through the window at the world outside, we can see that the environment is being severely affected, not only the water but also the atmosphere we breathe or the noise from the traffic. As we continue to advance technologically, it's become increasingly apparent that our planet's natural resources are finite, and we must take steps to preserve them. The growing concerns about environmental degradation and the impact of climate change have forced us to reconsider how we live our lives. Have you ever considered the various ways in which we can protect the environment? From individual actions to large-scale policies, there are numerous ways we can make a positive impact on the planet's health. In this discussion, we'll explore some of the most effective ways to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for future generations.

I. BODY DEVELOPMENT

1. The situation of the environment

The meaning of environment: Environment is the living space of people and living things. This is the place that provides natural resources such as forests, minerals, rare animals and plants,... and man-made material elements that are closely related to each other, serving and affecting life and processing the existence and development of human life. But this is also the place where human-made waste is stored.

Nowadays, the environment is seriously polluted. Especially air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, etc. That has been threatening human life. Pollution of the air and water is a major problem. The intensity of the air pollution issue is worsened by the rise in vehicle exhaust emissions, which harms the quality of the air. That means that our lives will be more difficult.

As far as I know, Vietnam now is a developing country and has been industrializing and modernizing. As a result, the number of manufacturers has increased dramatically over the past few decades, along with serious issues such as air or water pollution. Many people, especially those who live in industrial areas, have been affected by these issues. They have to suffer from not only dirty water but also respiratory illnesses.

From my point of view, there are a lot of things that lead to environmental issues. However, the biggest cause of this problem is human activities. For building and farming, people destroy forests, which has an adverse effect on the ecosystem and wildlife habitats. Additionally, the growth in CO2 levels caused by industrial activity contributes to global warming and increases greenhouse gas emissions.

2. The importance of the environment

The environment is of great importance to our health and family life.

Firstly, it must be mentioned that the environment is the place to store and provide resources for our productive life. It includes both renewable and non-renewable resources. Examples: Wood for furniture, soil, land, etc.

Secondly, the environment is an ideal living space for creatures and humans. The environment includes the sun, soil, water, and air, which are essential for human life. It helps sustain life by providing genes and biodiversity.

Thirdly, the environment is a place to store and provide information for people. The environment is a place to record the history of human evolution and development on earth. Provide early warning signals of danger to humans and living creatures before natural disasters. It is a place to preserve the aesthetic, religious and cultural values of people...etc. The environment also protects humans and animals from external influences.

Finally, the environment is a place to store, neutralize and decompose wastes created by humans in their life and production activities. Containing waste is a vital function of the environment. Production and consumption activities generate waste, which occurs mostly in the form of garbage. The environment helps in getting rid of garbage.

3. The effects of Environmental Pollution

 For the air environment

 Perforating the ozone layer, increasing the greenhouse effect, making the Earth warmer, causing the melting of ice, causing sea level rise, affecting the life of some areas in the world.

 Other air pollution phenomena such as: Pollution of smoke, exhaust gases, etc. cause respiratory diseases, skin cancer, etc.

 For the aquatic environment

 Polluted water sources can, depending on the extent, partially or completely destroy the organisms living in them.

 Polluted water causes serious consequences for human health.

 Polluted water leads to a lack of fresh water for daily life.

 For the soil environment

- Crops and crops grown on contaminated soil will not have high yields, affecting the economy or may be infected, and people eating them will also be affected to health.

- Polluted soil environment leads to groundwater pollution, and lack of water for daily life.

- Polluted soil environment will narrow the habitat of many affected plant and animal species.

- Effect of the environment the quality of soil is rapidly degraded. Arable land will turn into the desert or be lost to erosion and waterlogging. Furthermore, the soil is also polluted by improper disposal of waste or heavy metals from factories and power plants. These substances will enter the waterways and then our food chain, which gradually does harm our health. To solve the problem, plants must build proper waste disposal systems and people should avoid using harmful chemicals in farming.

4. Ways to protect the environment

Environmental protection is the practice of protecting the natural environment by individuals, organizations and governments. Its objectives are to conserve natural resources and the existing natural environment and, where possible, to repair damage and reverse trends.

Due to the pressures of overconsumption, population growth and technology, the biophysical environment is being degraded, sometimes permanently. This has been recognized, and governments have begun placing restraints on activities that cause environmental degradation. Since the 1960s, environmental movements have created more awareness of the multiple environmental problems. There is disagreement on the extent of the environmental impact of human activity, so protection measures are occasionally debated.

We all know the common saying that ‘charity begins at home.’ Similarly, protecting our planet and its environment begins at home. It is essential to preserve and protect the environment to secure the Earth’s future.

Mentioned below are a list of some small steps we can take and some changes we can make to our everyday lifestyle to protect the environment without much pressure or trouble. The least we can do along with this is help spread awareness about the issue.

Throw away trash in the right place

Maintaining general hygiene is the responsibility of each of us, regardless of young or old. Putting trash in the bin is a simple but very meaningful job. It not only protects the beauty of the environment but also protects human health.

Treat pollution in wastewater before discharging it into the environment

Measures should be taken to deal with the current state of wastewater pollution from large urban areas, concentrated industrial zones, places with a lot of discharge, etc. to solve the state of water pollution. been clean for the living environment.

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

Reduce your waste, reuse your waste, and recycle your waste. Follow the 3 ‘R’s to do your bit in conserving the environment. This method minimizes waste to a great extent and keeps the environment clean.

Plant Trees

Planting trees is the most common and textbook method for caring for the environment. Increasing the green cover on Earth reduces the carbon footprint considerably, thereby minimizing the negative effects on the environment to a great extent. It also helps in cleansing the air and improving its quality by absorbing

Conserve Resources

Conserve resources like water and electricity. Cut down on their use and do not waste unnecessarily. Some simple ways to do this include:

 Properly insulate indoor areas.

 Harvest rainwater and store it for daily use.

 Use LEDs in place of incandescent bulbs as they are more energy-efficient.

 Use ceiling fans in place for air conditioners and heaters as much as possible.

Besides we should use solar energy and clean energy sources

Facing the increasingly polluted environment, which is mainly caused by the use of unfriendly energy sources, that's the reason why clean energy is being invested more than ever.

Compost

Composting may sound like a tedious or grand task, but it isn’t. It is relatively simple, given that you possess the required knowledge and will. It is easy to set up a small kitchen garden and build compost within it. This helps you eliminate your organic waste in a more nature-friendly manner while increasing the air quality around your house. It also provides you with fresh manure for your plants and improves soil quality.

Travel Smart

Choose to walk, ride a bicycle, take public transport, or carpool with friends, family, and colleagues whenever possible. This will make fewer vehicles ply the road,

reducing gaseous emissions to a great extent. It turns out it even costs less. Gaseous

emissions in the air are poisonous and can lead to serious issues like acid rain. By limiting the issue at the source, itself, we make it easier for the environment to heal.

Go Sustainable

Choose sustainable development measures over plain exploitation. Sustainable development allows the Earth the means to survive in the future as well by protecting the environment. Our short-term greed and luxury are unjustified in far sight.

Go Organic

Try and go organic wherever possible. Be it food, dairy products, or clothing, choose organic substances over inorganic ones as much as you can. Cut down on plastic and other poisonous and harmful chemical compounds as they severely harm the environment and lead to major problems like biomagnification and eutrophication.

Volunteer and raise aware of environment

Volunteering for social work to maintain the environment is another effective way to contribute towards its well-being. Volunteering for cleaning campaigns, picking

an essential aspects of keeping the environment clean and safe for everyone.

Volunteering can spread awareness is the least anyone can do to educate people about the environment and the harm they inadvertently cause to the environment Volunteering to teach young children and middle-aged people alike can prove to be worth the effort in preserving and protecting the environment for years to come.

Using advances in science

The living environment profoundly affects human health and the development of society. Therefore, using the advances of science and technology to protect the environment is absolutely necessary.

The Prime Minister of Vietnam has approved this activity as one of the five priority technology groups in the orientation of science and technology development to 2020. Therefore, in our country, we are gradually paying attention to the application of solutions. scientific and technological solutions in the field of environment to contribute to pollution reduction and protection of natural resources.

Save paper

How does saving paper help to protect the environment?

Reducing the use of paper reduces the frequency of cutting down trees for paper production, thereby reducing CO2 emissions to help protect natural forests and the ecosystem they provide.
