method and facilitated my internship with all their hearts in recent time.
Then I want to express my great attitude to M.A. Le Thuy Hang who
always gave me the best advises, help me overcome all the difficulties to finish
this internship report.
My knowledge of teaching experience and method is limited, thus, this

Preface
Internship is a period of time during which a student get practical experience in a

job and it is extremely important. During this period, we have the opportunity to
practice our specialized knowledge, communication skills in a practical environment.
Thereby, we recognize the strengths to promote and the weaknesses to overcome and
practice more for future work.
I feel highly honored because I have a good chance to work in a pedagogic
environment. I always try my best in my class hours because if there are any errors, they
impact not only me but also other people, especially my students. I always strictly abide
by all rules of Chanh Nghia secondary school, the regulations for all officials and
employees in general as well as for interns in particular. Besides, I always listen and
fully take note the reports of the teachers about the school, locality, head work of a class
and the tasks of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union – Ho Chi Minh Pioneers’
Organization. To better understand the school educational practices, I learn from the
teachers and approach my students, so I have added some useful information for my
report.
This is the first time I have been worked practically in a lively and attractive
educational environment and I feel that I can identify myself with teaching. During my
internship, I always define a right and scientific attitude to discover and exploit the
useful things for myself and for my future work.
The purpose of this report is to share what I did and learned during my internship
period. The report focuses primarily on the working environment, my job, and benefits
that I got.

CHAPTER 1: GENERAL INTRODUCTION OF CHANH NGHIA
SECONDARY SCHOOL
1. History of Chanh Nghia Secondary school:
Chanh Nghia Secondary School is currently located in Quarter 9, Chanh
Nghia Ward, Thu Dau Mot Town, Binh Duong Province, and bounded by Phu
Tho Ward, Phu Hoa Ward and Saigon River. The school was established after
the liberation in 1976, precursor of Chanh Nghia Secondary school is a

primary - secondary school with 8 classrooms. In the early 1980s, the school
was split into a primary school and a secondary school seperately. This
secondary school once was at Lo Chen Three-way crossroads where is very
noisy for teachers and students to teach and learn because of too much traffic
density, and then the school was moved to Quarter 7.
Chanh Nghia Secondary school was a small school and was surrounded
by Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School, Phu Cuong Secondary school,
Chu Van An which were the big schools, so it was difficult to enroll students in
that period . Until 2006 the school was officially constructed and in 2009 the
school was in operation so far the 4

school year.

2. Material facilities of the school:
Material facilities of Chanh Nghia Secondary school was newly built
with many classrooms and functional rooms. The school is one of the most
well - equiped school in Thu Dau Mot town, includes: 18 classrooms, 3
laboratories, 2 subject rooms, a language laboratory, 2 computing rooms, 3
audio-visual rooms, a equipment room, a libruary, a multi-purpose room.
Workrooms consist of 11 rooms (principal’s, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth
Union’s, medical room, traditional room ), the number of seats are 810
The school ensures sufficiently, maintains well and use effectively all of
available facilities and equipment for teaching.
3. Educational environment of the school:
a) Advantages:
- Material facilities are spacious, the school has 18 classrooms ahead, behind
is the training rooms and the rest is the administrative region. Campus is
very large, has an airy playing-field but not cool because the height of the

trees is still short. However, sanitation ensures satisfactory. Students must
not throw away their rubbish untidily.
- Teaching staff of the school are mostly young, energetic, and enthusiastic.
- The parent-teacher association is very thoughtful, and creates good
conditions for school activities; especially this association coordinates

closely with schools and students’ families to educate students
comprehensively. Thus, order and discipline of the school is very stable,
students are obedient and respectful.
- The Department of Education and Training and local government in Thu
Dau Mot town have supported positively in supervising and speeding up all
levels of society to help the school about expertise as well as facilities.
- The school has been recognized as a national standardized school in 2011-
2015. This is a good condition for teachers and students to strive more in
teaching and learning.
b) Disadvantages:
- Currently, Chanh Nghia Secondary school is near the People's Committee
of Chanh Nghia Ward. Formerly, the central ward was in August
Revolution street and bounded by Binh Duong Boulevard, so it was very
difficult for some parents to pick up their children.
- Students of Chanh Nghia Ward compared with those of other wards are
more difficult at economic condition. More than 50% students are
Vietnamese people of Chinese origin, so their parents pay attention them
less than those in other places. However, by the efforts of the all teachers,
the quality of teaching and learning in the following year is always higher
than that in the next year. And now the quality of the school is as equal as
other schools in the town through the results of examinations.
4. Management organization:

a) The organization:

The number of staff and teachers: 63 people (50 women)
- The Board of school managing: 3 people (1 principal and 2 vice -
principals).
- Teachers: 44 people
- Administrators: 16 people
- 22 classes with 785 students (391 girls).
In the morning:
- Grade 6 has 6 classes with 224 students (103 girls).
- Grade 9 has 5 classes with 183 students (96 girls).
In the afternoon:
- Grade 7 has 6 classes with 205 students (108 girls)
- Grade 8 has 5 classes with 173 students (84 girls).
The school has 7 teams, including 1 administrative team and 6 professional
teams: Mathematics, Literature, History – Geography – Civics – Music –
Painting, Foreign Language, Chemistry – Biology - Physical Education -
Technology, Physics - Computing.
b) Organization of teaching and learning:
Chanh Nghia Secondary School organized 2 teaching sessions (in the
morning and in the afternoon).

c) Order and discipline:
Almost students are good, very active in the school activities. Students like
the school activities. Students are forbidden to dye their hair. In Monday, all
female teachers wear uniforms; teachers could not wear T-shirts and jeans

except at the meeting.
d) Some organizations support the school activities:
+ Party cell as a leader issues the resolution for the general activities. There are
19 members (15 female)
+ Trade Union is to protect the rights of employees, to supervise the members’
tasks, to contribute, and to reflect the aspirations of the members
+ Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union
+ Ho Chi Minh Pioneers’ organization supports in teaching and learning.
+ The parent-teacher association

CHAPTER 2: INTERNSHIP PROCESS AT CHANH NGHIA SECONDARY
SCHOOL:
1. Professional duty:
- I worked as a head teacher in class 8A4 in 5 weeks from 02.13.2012 to
20/03/2012.
- I taught English of grade 7 in 8 periods with the following classes: 7A1, 7A2,
7A3, 7A4.

national flag and were familiar with the interns.
-The interns listened to the report on the status and
activities of the school, subject group (with Chau
Uc, Duc Do, Ngoc Mai) and head teacher group
(with Kim Oanh, Thu Trang, Thanh Dat), and then
met two instructors (Ms. Nguyen Thuy Vuong and
Ms. Tran Ngoc Ha) at the meeting room.
-Head teacher group met and listened to the
guidance of 8A4’s head teacher about doing head’s
plan, assignment meeting period each week and
lesson plans submitted before teaching within 3
days:

-Batch 7 and 8 had weekly gathering under national

The interns helped the students sitting in order and
keeping quite. Class 8A4 ranked the first.

observation in class 6A4 taught by Ms. Nhanh
(subject head) with Unit 11 What do you eat? – A4
Read at the audio-visual room.

Comments: Teacher reviewed the previous lesson,
if the lesson is too short, teacher should organize
many activities
-I made lesson plans at home: Unit 11-B4 and Unit
12-A1A2 (English 7).

15:00-15:20 -Head teacher introduced the interns with the class
8A4 and we had some cultural exchanges (Khoa
and Tien sang for the teachers, after that I and Kim
Oanh gave a song for the class).
- I continued preparing the lesson plans.

-We met and asked about studying of some students
in class.
-English interns had observation in class 7A2 taught
by Ms. Tran Ngoc Ha (my subject instructor) with
Unit 11 What was wrong with you?-B1 at the
audio-visual room.
Comments: Teacher designed a courseware well,
beautifully, and she also presented well. The class
raised his hand and gave opinions excitingly. The
games were integrated into the unit such as True or
False, Lucky number or Matching were favorite.
However, the seats were not arranged comfortably,
so the teamwork was ineffective and made noise,
some children were still passive in learning English.
-I submitted the lesson plans for Ms. Ngoc Ha.

Comments: She was very fair to reward and
sanction students. Because just some students made
mistakes, the review was taken rapidly, the
remaining time was for the music (Ngan Trang sang
"You belong with me", Khoa sang "Hat giay")
-Ms. Ngoc Ha modified lesson plans for each intern
(three-column lesson plan, correct spelling, correct
vocabulary ) and assigned next week’s teaching
periods.

-We were at school to prepare more extra-curricular
activities.
-Mr. Phuc (vice-principal) assigned me to observe a
45’ chemistry test in class 8A1 with Ha (an English
intern of grade 8).
Comments: Students were not serious during testing

although they were reminded many times. The test
was easy, but many students did not complete and
submitted early.
-Batch 8 did exercises with music.
-Class 8A4 attended extra-curricular activities with
the interns, played the "Striking the ball", the prize
was candy and then the students danced with music.
The interns reminded the students of cleaning up
before leaving.

-I had observation in class 8A4 that Ms. Nguyen
Thi Thanh Ha taught Unit 11 Travelling - Lesson

Comments: the class was good with well-prepared
lesson at home; teacher used a variety of
commands in English and composed a
courseware, more games incorporated into

lessons.
-I had observation in class 7A2, Chau Uc taught
Unit 11-B4.
Comments: the class was rather good and
dynamic. Teacher taught fairly well but there was
lack of pictures to illustrate the lesson, did not
know how to present on the board.
Experience: using the command "Do you finish? /
Finished it yet?"
-Ms. Ha reviewed Chau Uc’s teaching.
-We reminded the students of seating stability and
in order while being weekly gathering under
national flag, class 8A4 ranked the first.

-I reminded the students of queuing in line and
singing at the earlier school time.
-I had observation in class 7A4 at the audio-visual
room.
Comments: The class was not well-prepared and
did not speak enthusiastically. PowerPoint also
had errors. The teacher taught in a low voice, read
some words wrongly (fever, sneeze, symptom,
stomachache, cough), introduced the vocabulary
rightly and enough. However, the True-false part
was too much to have enough time. “Lucky

number” was main game.
Experience: after finishing the Warm-up part, the
teacher must direct up to the lesson, do not
introduce all the meaning of new words, it makes
students in passive role, do not translate questions,
divide the class into small groups to get quick
answers and avoid making the much animation
making students not focus on lesson. The teacher
should use the simple command such as "Repeat /
again / one more times", "The whole class, this
word is right or wrong? / Right or wrong, class?",
"That's right. It means ","Write down,
please!","5 minutes for you. After that you will
work in pairs”, “one asks and one answers”, “read
aloud, please!"
-I had observation in class 7A1, Duc Do taught
Unit 11-B4.
Comments: the teacher was awkward, took time to
test old lesson, had no part of moving sentence,
the loud of ruler made the students start in
surprise.
Experience: the teacher should be corrected with
pastels; the teacher should introduce the word like
“runny nose”, “fever” and then introduce
“symptom” as it is difficult to explain, don’t write
Vietnamese on the board, the students must listen
to the tape or read one time before reading in
chorus; the teacher should explain some phrases in
lesson like "do relieve" and "work", e.g. "cold
cures" as noun mean? "Work" is a verb, what is

the meaning? In this lesson the "work" means
something else is

Comments: Ms. Ha had observation but the

Comment: blurry fonts, too much command but
stumbled so many students did not pay attention,
the teacher read some words unclearly: “stall,

pork, spinach, cucumber, papaya, select,
selection”
Experience: let students listen, repeat and stand up
to study; let each groups correct mistake together.
-Ms. Ha reviewed Chau Uc’s teaching, announced
that on Saturday 25/02 14h-16h there would be an
extra-class for bad students (20 students in grade
7), the content was about the present tense of the
verb "to be".
-I had observation in class 7A1, Chau Uc taught
on behalf of Duc Do as he had a sore throat, he
could not speak loudly.
-I taught class 7A3 about Unit 11 - B4.
-Ms. Ha gave me more comments.

Comments: the behavior of teachers was better,
the teacher spoke louder, had a good lesson plan,
spoke much English, had no real situation, the
“Lucky number” was unnecessary.
Experience: grammar should be short and contact
with real situation to teach the students
-I taught Unit 12-A1A2 with class 7A3 in the
audio-visual room
-I had observation at Kim Oanh’s meeting period.

Comments: the teacher was mature, she rewarded
and punished clearly, the class actively

how to read the alphabet, set the song "The ABC
Song", explained the structure of the present tense
of the verb "to be", gave examples and exercises.

Experience: the teacher should introduce pictures
before letting the name of lesson run into the
board, explain “the doctor's" means "clinic
doctor", use some commands: "We have no new
word," "Can you correct ? "," Now class, we will
work in groups of 8 "," fill in the blank "
-I submitted the lesson plan of Unit 12-B1
-Class 8A4 was in charge of putting chairs in
order
-We weekly gathered under national flag:
+ Mr. Phuc commented that hygiene status,
the student's sense last week was not good , the
students need to improve if not there will be
measures to handle the violations of school rules.
+ Mr. Long popularized the plans on Mar

+ Trainee groups of physical and
information technology gave a quiz with prizes
and group games named "Please".

Comments: the class was passive in learning

Experience: giving more antonyms “dirty #
clean”, designing additional questions, making
questions and answers fit together.

visual room.
-Ms. Ha commented me and Mai's teaching, asked
us to prepare the lesson plan of Unit 13-A1A2.

part A2 of Unit 12.
-I taught Unit 12-B2 for class 7A1 at the audio-

Comments: class participated in the discussion
actively.

in Literature, I warned Van and Vy against not
repeating their mistakes.

Comments: the class was rather quite, there was
consolidated the lesson, the teacher let the
students see a short comedy clip related to the

Comments: the students prepared lesson carefully,
the teacher improve “Lucky number” into “Lucky

-I taught Unit 13-A1A2 for class 7A1 at the audio-
visual room.

2.1.2 The process of teaching:
As a child, I wanted to become a teacher. I thought this job was very interesting
and I liked to be called “Ms. Ngoc”. Along with my English major at Van Hien
University, I have also a teaching certificate. I love to become an English teacher but
still hesitate over whether to be able to carry out my desire. After much heart-
searching, I decided to apply for the position of teacher at Chanh Nghia secondary
school to have an opportunity to teach English and to contact with educational
environment. My dream came true when I was accepted to be an intern at the school
during a period of five weeks from 06-02-2012 to 12-03-2012. Four days before Feb

at 8: 35 am, I was meeting Headmaster Vo Van Tho, Ms. Tran Ngoc Ha and Ms.
Nguyen Thuy Vuong who were going to help me with the tasks of subject and head
teacher. Headmaster and two teachers helped me with all their hearts by clearing up
my troubles that I have encountered. Besides, I have known that I was going to work
with some students of Thu Dau Mot University and I thought I would learn more from
them. Then, I was visited around the campus with Ms. Vuong. My first impression of
this school was that all students have bowed to any teacher very politely when they
meet. And this is the first time I have heard "Hello, teacher!" that was so cute. I felt
very happy. The second impression was that all of subject rooms have been well-
equipped.
