some dc xem là hình thức số nhiều của a, an.
some đứng trc danh từ số nhiều đếm dc và danh từ ko đếm dc.

EX: There's some milk in the fridge. Có 1 ít sữa trong tủ lạnh.
There are some books on the table. Có vài quyển sách trên bàn.

- Sử dụng "some" khi chưa xác định rõ số lượng.
- Sử dụng "some" trong câu hỏi để bộc lộ rõ ý muốn của ng` nói, đặc biệt trong câu yêu cầu và
đề nghị.Khi đó,ng` nói mong muốn dc đáp lại bằng "yes".
EX: Did you buy some milk? Bn đã mua 1 ít sữa phải ko?
2. Many.
many: nhiều.
many thg` đứng trc danh từ đếm dc.
- Sử dụng "many" khi muốn ám chỉ 1 số lượng lớn.
- Dc dùng chủ yếu trong câu hỏi và câu phủ định.
EX: I have many friends here. Ở đây tôi có nhiều bn.
How many floors does your school have? Trg` bn có bao nhiêu tầng?
There aren't many students in this school. Ko có nhièu HS ở trg` này.
3. Any.
any ko có nghĩa xác định.
any thg`dc dùng trong câu hỏi và câu phủ định.
any đứng trc danh tù số nhiều đếm dc hoặc danh tù ko đếm dc.
- Khi đạt câu hỏi vs "any", ng` nó ngụ ý nghi ngờ, ko bik điều mình hỏi có hay ko có.
EX: Are there any oranges? Có quả cam nào ko?
No, there aren't any oranges. Ko, ko có quả cam nào cả.

Is there any cheese in the fridge? Có chút fomat nào trong tư lạnh ko?
No, there isn't any cheese in the fridge./No,there isn't.
4. Much.
much thg` dùng trong câu phủ định và câu hỏi.
much đi vs danh từ ko đếm dc.
EX: I don't have much time. Tôi ko có nhiều thời gian.
I don't have much money. Tôi ko có nhiều tiền.
5. A lot of và lots of.
a lot of có nghĩa là nhiều, 1 số lượng nhiều
a lot of thg` dc dùng trong câu khẳng định.

a lot of là cách nói khác của lots of.
a lot of và lots of thg` đi vs danh từ ko đếm dc và danh từ số nhiều.
EX: There's a lot of rain today. Hôm nay mưa nhiều.
A lot of students are studying in the library. Nhiều HS dg học bài trong thư viện.
There are lots of people here. Có nhiều ng`ở đây.

1 Much & many

Many hoặc much thường đứng trước danh từ. Many đi với danh từ đếm
được và much đi với danh từ không đếm được:

She didn’t eat much breakfast.
(Cô ta không ăn sáng nhiều)
There aren’t many large glasses left.
(Không còn lại nhiều cốc lớn)

Tuy nhiên much of có thể đi với tên người và tên địa danh:

I have seen too much of Howard recently.
(Gần đây tôi hay gặp Howard)
Not much of Denmark is hilly.
(Đan mạch không có mấy đồi núi)

Many/much of + determiner (a, the, this, my ) + noun.

You can’t see much of a country in a week.
(Anh không thể biết nhiều về một nước trong vòng một tuần đâu.)
I won’t pass the exam. I have missed many of my lessons.
(Tôi sẽ không thoát được kỳ thi này mất, tôi bỏ quá nhiều bài.)

Many và much dùng nhiều trong câu phủ định và câu nghi vấn, trong câu
khẳng định có thể dùng các loại từ khác như plenty of, a lot, lots of để
thay thế.

How much money have you got? I’ve got plenty.

Tuy vậy trong tiếng Anh, much và many vẫn được dùng bình thường
trong câu khẳng định.

Much has been written about the causes of unemployment in the opinion of
many economists.

Much dùng như một phó từ (much đứng trước động từ nhưng đứng sau
very và sau cấu trúc phủ định của câu):

I don’t travel much these days. (much = very often)
I much appreciate your help. (much=highly)
We very much prefer the country to the town.
Janet much enjoyed her stay with your family.

Much too much / many so many (để nhấn mạnh) dùng độc lập sau mệnh
đề chính, trước danh từ mà nó bổ ngữ.

The cost of a thirty-second commercial advertisement on a television show is
$300,000, much too much for most business.

Many a + singular noun + singular verb: Biết bao nhiêu.

Many a strong man has disheartened before such a challenge.
(Biết bao chàng trai tráng kiện đã nản lòng trước một thử thách như vậy)

Many’s the + {smt that / sbody who} + singular verb

Many’s the student who couldn’t follow the post-graduate courses at universities

(Biết bao nhiêu sinh viên đã không thể theo học các trường ĐH và CĐ do thiếu

2 Phân bit alot/ lots of/ plenty/ a great deal vi many/ much

Các thành ngữ trên đều có nghĩa tương đương với much/ many (nhiều) và most
(đa phần). A lot of/ lots of (informal) = a great deal/ a large number of/
much/ many (formal).

Không có khác nhau gì mấy giữa a lot of và lots of. Chủ ngữ chính sau hai thành
ngữ này sẽ quyết định việc chia động từ.

More + noun/noun phrase: dùng như một định ngữ

More + of + personal/geographic names

(Rất hay khi được gặp Ray và Barbara thường xuyên hơn.)
Five hundred years ago, much more of Britain was covered with trees.
(500 năm trước đây, đa phần nước Anh phủ nhiều rừng hơn bây giờ nhiều)

More of + determiner/pronoun (a/ the/ my/ this/ him/ them )
He is more of a fool than I thought.
