GERUND AFTER VERBS
 Gerund may replace nouns or pronouns as subjects, objects or complements. (Not is used before
gerund to form negative).
 Gerund is used after some verbs indicating like and dislike such as like, love,help, prfer, enjoy ,
dislike , hate, ect. to express a habit.
Ex:-I love playing the piano
-She hates watching soccer
 Gerund is used after some other verbs such as mind , avoid , deny , stop , finish , continue , go on , etc.
Ex:-Would you mind opening the windows for me?
Notes:
+ Gerund used after some verbs give passive meaning.
Ex. The house needs paiting. ( = The house needs to be painted).
My shoes want meading. ( = My shoes want to be meaded).
The machine requires clearing. (= The machine requires to be cleared).
+ After some verbs such as remember, try, forget, mean, hate both gerund and infinitive are used; but
the meaning of the sentence changes.
