- ask and answer about music
- talk about the favorite kinds of music
* Method: Integrated, mainly communicative

* Procedure

I. WARM-UP:(3’)
Divide class into group of 4-5
Give each group a set of picture of foreign singers and slips of paper
containing their names

S work in groups and quickly match the singers with their names. Which
group finishes first and has all the correct answers will be the winner
Ask S what they know about these singer and name some of their songs

II. PRE – SPEAKING:
Task 1: answering questions based on the reading text
Ask some S read aloud the passage
elicit some new words
keep sb happy = make sb happy
cheer sb up: làm cho ai đó phấn chấn

ask S to work in pairs to answer the questions in the book

III. WHILE- SPEAKING:
Task 2: asking and answering about music taste
Before S do the task, ask them to look at the first column of the table which
include five items they should ask their friends about. Ask S what
questions they want to ask if they want to know about their friends’
favorite kind of music, reason s for listening to music, favorite band,
musician, singer … and when their friend listens to music.
Suggested questions:
What kind of music do you like?
Why do you like it?
Who is your favorite singer/musician?
What is your favorite song/ piece of music?
When do you listen to the music?

Introduce some adjectives and expression to talk about music and the
important of music:
• Make sb excited
• Make sb feel relaxed
• Help sb forget troubles and worries
• Relaxing…
• Peaceful
Tell S form group of 3. One of them will be a journalist who wants to
interview high-school student bout their music state. The journalist has to
ask the two students some questions and fill in the table for his/her later
article.
Remind S that they should act out the conversation as it happens in reality.
Modal the conversation with a good student.
Go around observing, offering help and collecting any mistake and errors
for later correction
IV. POST- SPEAKING
Task 3: reporting on the information
Before S report, elicit the structures they can use:
• both A and B like …
• A like … and so does B.
• A likes …, and B does, too
• A likes …, but B prefers …
• prefer st to st
Call on some S to report what they have found out about their partners
Take note of S’s mistakes for later correction
V. WRAPPING UP
Summarize main point.
Ask S to learn by heart new word and prepare for the next lesson
Read the table
