Note:
- Dùng để kết hợp hai từ cùng
loại.
- Not only…but also …+ Verb
(chia theo chủ ngữ gần nhất).

3. Neither … nor: Không … cũng không
Note:
- Dùng để kết hợp hai từ cùng loại.
- Neither…nor …+ Verb (chia theo chủ
ngữ gần nhất).
- Neither …nor được dùng trong câu
khẳng định nhưng câu mang nghĩa
phủ định.

- We travel to Hanoi by either train or plane.
- Either train or plane is used to travel to Hanoi.

4. Either…or: Hoặc…hoặc
Note:
- Dùng để kết hợp hai từ cùng
loại.
- Either…or …+ Verb (chia theo
chủ ngữ gần nhất).

Examples:
Tom was late. So was Ann.
- Both Tom and Ann were late.
She didn’t write and she didn’t phone.
- She neither wrote nor phoned.
Exercise 1: Combine the sentences using both….and,
either…or, or neither….nor.

B/ Cleft sentences in the passive
Form:
Ex: The boy hit the dog in the garden.

It was the dog that was hit in the garden.
It + be (was/is/…) + Object (active) + that/who + be (was/are/…) + P2 + …
Ex: The children broke the window yesterday.
It was the window that was broken yesterday (by the children).

Example:
The boy hit the dog in the garden.
It was the dog that was hit in the garden.

Exercise 2: Change the sentences into cleft
sentences in the passive.
