For questions 21- 30 you need to read the following three paragraphs about teddy
bears:
(Paragraph one)
Do you remember your favorite stuffed animal when you were a child? For many
children, it is a teddy bear. They are soft, cute, and fun to play with. They are
also good for watching TV with, sitting next to at breakfast, and hugging in bed.

Teddy bears are really good “listeners” too when kids want to talk. They are so
popular that they are passed down from generation to generation.
(Paragraph two)
The first teddy bear was named after US President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.
One day in 1902, Roosevelt and his friends were hunting in the woods. He was not
a very good hunter, so his friends attempted to help him. They caught and trapped
a bear and told him to shoot it. Roosevelt thought it was unfair because it was too
easy.
(Paragraph three)
Shortly after, a toy maker named Morris Michtom saw a newspaper cartoon
depicting Roosevelt and the bear. He thought the drawing of the bear was really
cute, so he made stuffed bears that resembled it. Michtom even sent one to
President Roosevelt and asked if he could name the bears “Teddy.” The answer
was yes, and the rest is history.

For questions 71 – 80, you need to read this article about technology first.
For most people, advances in technology, such as the newest iPad or digital camera,
make life more fun. They are not necessary, and you could no doubt live without

them. However, can you imagine technology totally changing your life? That is what’s
happening with the elderly and the physically challenged, with technology helping
them live independently.
One such advancement is the iBOT 3000, which is known as the SUV of wheelchairs.
Not only can it handle parks and dirt roads, but it can also climb stairs. In addition, it
allows users to stand up to cook or look out windows, and it can be made smaller and
put into cars as well.
Computers also make it easier for people with disabilities to do certain tasks.
Products like special keyboards for the blind are common and simple enough to use.
Other developments are more cutting-edge, such as voice recognition software that
lets users operate their computers by speaking. Likewise, there are computers that
can read out loud so that blind people can understand the content without having the
document changed into Braille first.
Computers aren’t the only appliances speaking nowadays. From washing machines to
clocks, many devices have gone verbal. The visually impaired benefit from appliances
that read out information that is usually only displayed, while the physically
challenged get help from those that can receive verbal instructions. What’s more, the
most amazing technological advances are yet to come. Swiss researchers are
developing computers that can read minds. They say people will be able to use their
brains to move a cursor on the screen one day. Now that’s using your head!
