Dạng của Động từ


Trong
tiếng Anh, khi 2 động từ trong cùng một câu đứng cạnh nhau thì động từ
đứng thứ hai sẽ có dạng
V-ing hoặc dạng nguyên thể.
Trong một số trường hợp động từ thứ hai có thể có cả 2 dạng đó NHƯNG nghĩa
lại khác nhau.
Ví dụ:
• He stops his plan to go to China. He starts to go for Vietnam. (Từ bỏ một
việc và quay sang bắt đầu làm việc khác
)
• He finishes packing his clothes and starts going for Vietnam. (xong một
việc này và bắt đầu luôn việc khác
)
Hãy sử dụng hoàn cảnh trong những câu dưới đây và chọn xem bạn sẽ dùng dạng
động từ nào,
nguyên thể hay V-ing.
• 1. He was walking along Church Street and really felt like a cigarette so he
stopped (smoke)
for 5 minutes.
• 2. I bumped into an old school friend yesterday. I remembered (play)
hockey with her at school, but I couldn't remember her name.
• 3. I tried (open) the jam jar but the lid was too tight.
• 4. I went to an excellent workshop on addictions and am proud to say that I
have stopped (smoke)

• 5. The U2 concert was amazing. I will never forget (see) the band
when they first came onto stage, with their bright clothes and guitars- the
feeling was indescribable.

• 6. It was so hot inside the classroom. I didn't know what to do. I put the fan
on, but that didn't help so I tried (open)
the window, and that
made it a little bit cooler.
• 7. Our electricity bill has been really high lately. Please remember (switch)
the lights off before you leave the house.
• 8. I'm so sorry I didn't go to dinner with you I forgot (call) and
cancel.
