The concept of Religion
Religion is a collection cultural systems, belief systems and world
views that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality
and sometimes to moral values. Many religions have narratives,
symbols, tradition and sacred histories that are intended to explain
the meaning of life or to explain the origin of life or the Universe.
From their beliefs about the cosmos and human nature people
derive morality, ethics, religious laws or preferred lifestyle.

According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the
world, for example as christanity, islam, hinduism, taoism, judaism,
buddhism…

Nowaday, our group will talk about buddhism, it is
popular in Viet Nam.
History of Buddhism
•
Buddhism came to Vietnam as early as the
second century CE through the North from
central Asia and via Southern routes from
India.
•
Buddhism first spread from China to
Vietnam’s Red river delta region around 300
CE
•
Buddhist practice in
Vietnam differs from that
of other Asian countries,
and does not contain the
same institutional
structures, hierarchy or
sanghas that exist in the
other tradition Buddhist
settings.
HaNoi’s One Pillar Pagoda
•
The Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam(BVS) is the only
Buddihist sangha recognized by the Vietnamese
government and is a member of the Vietnamese
Fatherland Front.

The BSV was founded after Vietnam’s Buddhist
Convention was held at Quan Su Temple nuns
and lay followers

This symbol is often found
on Buddhist holy medals, on
pagodas as decorations,
and on the chests of the
various statues of Buddha

It is the symbol of
Enlightenment, the
achievement of Nirvana.

this sign will appear
spontaneously upon the
chest of the Enlightened.
