Reported speech with Gerund

Use: We use reported speech with Gerund in order to
report feelings or suggestions. (để tường thuật cảm xúc hoặc lời
đề nghị của ai đó,)
S + V + (not) Gerund phrase
S + V + (O) + prep + (not) Gerund phrase

suggest
admit
deny
insist on
think of
dream of
look forward to
apologize (sb) for…
accuse sb of
thank sb for
congratulate sb on
prevent sb from
warn sb against…
Verbs:

Note: Change Subject Pronouns, Object pronouns, Possessive
adjectives, in reported speech
- First person (I , We) → S
- Second person (You) → O

- Third person (He, she, it, they) → unchanged

Change the verb tense if the introducing verb is in past tense.
“You didn’t pay attention to what I said,” the teacher said
to him
→ The teacher accused him of not paying attention to what
she had said.
