We were reading some neat books
about boats at school. We read about
many kinds of boats. We read about
rowboats. We read about tugboats.

We also read about fishing boats.
3
We wanted to make some of those
boats. Will used a sheet of paper to
make his boat.
“I have the perfect boat!” he said.
“You’ll see it will be a big surprise when I
show it off.”
4
Three girls from the class used
a flat plank to make a boat. They
added a tall mast. They stuck a cloth
to the mast with tacks. They painted
the boat red and yellow. It looked
pretty with those colors.
5
Mitch made a houseboat out of
boxes. It was small. He said that his
boat was perfect for a mouse. He
named it the
Mouse Boat
.

We all went to the park with our
boats. We put them on the pond to see
if they would float. The wind blew the
red and yellow boat across the pond.
Some boats were not lucky and sank.
7

Will didn’t want his boat to soak
up water and tip over in the pond. To
save it, he picked up his boat and put
it on his head!
8
“Surprise!” said Will. “My boat is
a hat, too!” Good job, Will!
