Help
for
Yak
2
One day, Yak said, “Look

what I will do.”
3
“We will help,” said Cat
and Dog.
“Me, too,” said Fox.
4
“First, we get the egg,”
said Cat.
“Now, it’s time for the
milk,” said Fox.
“I can add it,” said Dog.
5
“What a mess!” said Yak.
“Who will help me clean?”
6
“I have to go home,”
said Cat.
“I have to go, too,”
said Dog.
Fox was the one who
helped Yak.
7
“You helped me,” said Yak.
“You can eat this.”
“Thank you,” said Fox.
8
“What do you like best?”
asked Yak.
“I like the jam!” said Fox.

Think Critically
1. What was the fi rst thing to go in the bowl? What
went in next?
2. How was Fox like Cat and Dog? How was Fox
different from them?
3. How did Yak thank Fox for helping?
4. How do you feel when you are asked to clean up
a mess?
5. What do you think Yak was thinking in the picture
on page 2?
Social Studies
Write Some Rules Think of some clean up rules for your
classroom. Make a list of the rules. Then talk about your list

with classmates.
School-Home Connection Tell a family member
about the mess that Yak, Fox, Cat, and Dog made.
Find some things at home that need to be put away. Put them
where they belong.
